Apologies for the delay; here are the Three Stars of the Week for last week:
1st: Evgeni Malkin
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Malkin10
Sheer brilliance this week from Malkin. The stats speak for themselves - 20 points in 8 games, +10 rating, and 7 multi-point games. Incredible play from the Badgers star.
2nd: Jonathan Toews
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Toews10
Toews has settled in well with the Chatham Victory and has started to lead his team away from the bottom reaches of the league. The center managed 9 assists for 12 points in 8 games this week.
3rd: Daniel Sedin
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 D_sedi10
Along with his linemate Toews, Daniel helped the Victory to 5 wins this week, getting himself 11 points, aided mostly by a 5-point night against the Duck a l'orange.

Honourable Mentions:
The Victory's second-line winger Bobby Ryan also had a great week, scoring 6 goals and 10 points topped with a hat trick in the team's first win of two over the unfortunate Ducks.
Other hat tricks this week came from Andrew Brunette, and later in the week Phil Kessel, of the Surprise, Boston's Joe Pavelski, and Badgers defenseman Joni Pitkanen.
There were only two shutouts this week, one came from the apparent team of the week the Chatham Victory, in Ondrej Pavelec, and the other from Forerunners' goalie Mikael Tellqvist.

Dishonourable Mentions:
More goalie ejections! Duck a l'orange goaltender Brian Boucher and Capitals' netminder Henrik Lundqvist were this week ejected both for unsportsmanlike conduct.
And more brawls! The KoC-Spirit rivalry overflowed once again, Spirit d-man getting ejected for starting a brawl in which Trent Hunter lay the beat down on Cody McLeod. And the Caps-Pens rivalry heated up too, with Nik Hagman beating up veteran Caps' defenseman Wade Redden.
And Forerunners' defenseman Rostislav Klesla decided to ensure the 606HL officials are really earning their pay, taking 4 penalties in just over 10 minutes in the game against the Marauders.

And Finally...
The Victory's 5-1 win over the Ducks threw up an interesting set of stats. Despite the game's 6 goals, every single player had an even +/- rating. That's right all 6 goals were scored on the powerplay; a good night for Chatham's PP in particular, going 5-8 on the man advantage.

Here are the Three Stars of the Week for the last week:
1st: Patrick Sharp
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Sharp10
Despite playing with the worst team in the league, the Capitals second line winger somehow managed to notch 7 goals and 4 assists in 4 games, with a +5 rating too; though his effort wasn't enough to lift Watford from the foot of the league.

Martin St.Louis
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 St_lou10
The veteran Marauders winger justified his recent $10million contract extension with 10 points in 5 games for the club, moving him to joint second in points on the team.

Bobby Ryan
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Ryan_b10
The Victory winger, who was the unofficial 4th star of the week last week, kept up his good play with 12 points in 7 games for the Victory, before being moved to Portsmouth, helping the Pirates with 3 points in 2 games.

Honourable Mentions:
Jeff Carter of the Giraffes managed 10 points in 7 games in Moose Jaw, and was also a +5, taking him to a mammoth 123 points on the year.
Tomas Plekanec also ran close to the three stars, helped by a 5-point night for the Chops in a 9-3 win over the Giraffes. His week tailed off slightly, though, ending with 9 points in 5 games.
Sidney Crosby also managed a 5-point night in that big Chops win, with 2 assists and a hat trick.
Other hat tricks this week came from Pat Sharp, Bobby Ryan and Dustin Penner of the Rex.
The only two shutouts this week came from the Buttercups Marc-Ander Fleury, and a massive 37-save effort from Chatham Victory's Ondrej Pavelec.
Big Zdeno Chara led his Forerunners to a 5-2 win over the Shamrocks with a Gordie Howe hat trick; beating up Jason Arnott in the process.
Keith Ballard of the Monsters helped his team in a similar way in a 2-1 win over the Badgers; the defenseman notched the game-winning goal and added three fights, beating up one of the league's more hated players Todd Bertuzzi before draw fights to Bertuzzi again and Zach Bogosian. In total Ballard racked up 21 PIMs in the fight-filled matchup.
And for all you Crosby-haters out there, you'll be happy to know that Sheldon Souray (again) made him pay with the gloves off, beating him so bad he could no longer whine at all.

Dishonourable Mentions:
As mentioned the Badgers and Monsters engaged in a fair bit of extra-curricular activity to potentailly start a new rivalry, there were 2 brawls in their game with a total of 5 fights, the Monsters getting the better as Bertuzzi, Robidas and Malkin all suffered beatings.
The Ducks and Beefs rivalry hotted up this week, with two brawls in their two game. Jarome Iginla was involved in both brawls, whilst Steve Ott, involved in the first, was ejected for instigating a fight with Mike Commodore in the second match before getting the chance to start another brawl. But not to worry, Brett Clark made sure there was more action, also getting ejected for instigating.
There were also brawls in the Crunch-Chop rivalry game and the Victory-Forerunners game.
It was a very mixed week for Victory goaltender Ondrej Pavelec. He did manage a 37-save shutout, but later spoilt his week, saving only 5 of 9 shots faced, lasting under 10 minutes before returning to the bench having relieved Josh Harding in net. Overall, the youngster, earlier dubbed part of the future of the team by Victory GM BuffonIdol, saved 194 of 222 shots faced, managing a 0.874 GAA getting himself pulled 3 times.

And Finally...
It was a case of 'Curse of the Starter' for the St.Louis Spirit this week. Only once did a starting goaltender last the whole game, out of 6 games for the Spirit, Sebastien Caron backstopping a 2-1 win over the Cherrypickers. Overall in St.Louis, starting goaltenders had a save percentage of 0.863, whilst backups finished the week with 0.972, and in the 6 games 5 times was a goalie pulled. Bizarre

Bobby is only there to cover injuries and suspensions; you’ll find Erik Jonson is there for the same reason. I did run it past Matt before making the move and said that I would move them straight back to Victory when the other guys return (which I believe will be Monday night so they only spent one nights simming in the minors) but I was handcuffed somewhat because Ryan and Johnson are just about my only players younger than the waiver annoying 25. I tried to make it fair and put Ryan on the second line not the first and second PP unit not the first and not on PK at all.

Here are the Three Stars of the Week for the final, shortened, week of the regular season. Stay tuned for the playoff editions.

1st: Marc-Andre Fleury
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Fleury10
In this short final week of the regular season, Fleury played all three games for the Buttercups, winning all three, recording two shutouts for a GAA of 0.67 and a SV% of .970, to propel the Buttercups to top of the league.

2nd: Daniel Sedin
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 D_sedi11
Though he recorded no points in the first game, the Victory winger managed 6 points in the second game of the week, tying a 606HL record for points in a single game.

3rd: Jonathan Toews
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Toews11
Sedin’s linemate Toews only managed five points in that big game for Chatham’s top line, after playing the first game in the farm, managing 4 points in one game in Portsmouth.

Honourable Mentions:
The New York City Crunch had a staggering 6 players with 5 points over their 3 games this week. Anze Kopitar, David Booth, Martin Havlat, Travis Zajac, James Neal and Corey Perry pooled together to make it 30 points over the Crunch’s top two lines.
Ilya Kovalchuk also pushed hard for a placement in the Three Stars this week, also managing five points, and recording a Gordie Howe hat trick in the process against the Watford Capitals.
Eric Staal of the Cherrypickers was the only person other than Sedin to record a hat trick in this shortened week, doing so against the Victory, putting him on the verge of the Three Stars with 4 goals and five points in total.
As well as Fleury, Cam Ward also managed a shutout this week, saving all 23 shots for the Badgers against the Ducks.

Dishonourable Mentions:
Only one brawl over the 18 games this week, and a contender for tamest brawl of the year, with Roman Hamrlik and John Mitchell drawing the only fight of the incident, and only 3 minor penalties to go with it.
Bryan McCabe of the St.Louis Spirit was the only ejectee, receiving another game misconduct for checking from behind, his second for that offence in the past couple of weeks.
Brian Boucher was the unfortunate victim of Daniel Sedin’s record night, the veteran goalie relieved Dan Ellis in net in the 1st period, but only saving 13 of 16 shots before returning to the bench early in the 3rd period.

And Finally...
Nick Foligno of the Forerunners thought he had gotten the best of veteran Penguins defenseman Cory Sarich after beating him up in the first period of their game; only for Sarich to return the favour early in the third. Fortunately for Foligno, his team still managed a 5-3 win.

PLAYOFFS THREE STARS:

For the Playoffs, rather than three stars for each week, I'm doing three stars for each round. So, here are the Three Stars of Round for Round One:

1st: Martin Erat
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Erat10
The Cherrypickers winger led his team to a 4-2 series win over the Giraffes, the Czech getting on the scoreboard in all 6 of those games, totalling 9 points.

2nd: Nicklas Lidstrom
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Lidstr10
Still going strong beyond his 40th birthday, the Buttercups captain leads all defensemen in points through Round One with 8 points in 6 games in the series win over the Crunch.

3rd: Shane Doan
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Doan10
Like Erat, the Shamrocks winger Doan managed 9 points in 6 games in Boston's 4-2 series win over the Badgers, but was let down by his indiscipline, totting up 12 PIMs.

Honourable Mentions:
Erat's linemate Ryan Getzlaf benefitted from the winger's burst of form notching 8 points in the series.
And Mike Richards of the Fumblesaurus Rex was unfornutat to see his efforts go to waste as he managed 9 points in their 4-3 series loss to the Knights of Columbus. Despite his efforts on offense, Richards still finished with a -6 rating.
The two shutouts of the round came to Ilya Bryzgalov, in the Rex's 1-0 win in Game 3 of their series with KoC, and Cherrypickers netminder Tomas Vokoun, who stopped 30 shots in a 3-0 win over the Giraffes in the decisive Game 6.
As expected in the postseason, momentum has proven key; in that 3-0 win over the Giraffes, the Cherrypickers scored all 3 goals in the opening 4:42 of the game. And both the Shamrocks and the Buttercups saw the benefits of momentum. The Buttercups managing 2 goals in just 9 seconds, in a period of just under 6 minutes where they scored 4 goals against the Crunch. On the same night, on Day 4, the Shamrocks scored two in 10 seconds in a 7-4 win over the Badgers.
And I think I can speak for the majority of GMs when I give a special mention to the efforts of Marian Hossa this week, who, during a mini-brawl in the decisive Game 6 of the Buttercups-Crunch series, helped spur his team to the big win by humiliating Sean Avery with a dominant beating. Avery later complained that he wasn't ready when Hossa jumped him, only to hear laughs from the gathered media.

Dishonourable Mentions:
The Magic 28: Though he started all 7 games in the Rex's 4-3 series loss to the Knights of Columbus, Ilya Bryzgalov only finished 5. In both of those games he faced 28 shots, saving 28 and 27 respectively. In all 5 other games, the Russian netminder was pulled after letting in three goals, never facing more than 14 shots. In the end, Bryz finished with a SV% of .866
Backup netminder Martin Biron, of the Rex's opponents KoC, wasn't called upon as much as his counterpart in Fumblesaurus Erik Ersberg, though that may have been in part due to a shocker performance in his team's 6-1 loss to the Rex in Game 6 of the series, as he entered early in the second period, only to allow three goals past him in 14 shots to return to the bench midway through the third.
Interestingly, in these two weeks or so of games, the only fights came in brawls, of which there were three. One came in Game 3 of the Cherrypickers-Giraffes series, as Brent Seabrook got the best of Evgeny Artyukhin and Dion Phaneuf beat up Eric Staal. The other two were in Game 6 of the Buttercups-Crunch series. As mentioned, Marian Hossa demolished Sean Avery, and then Mattias Ohlund was ejected for instigating as he picked on Sheldon Souray, whose impressive fight record this season carried through to the playoffs as he beat up the Swede, whilst Corey Perry also beat up Tuomo Ruutu.

And Finally...
Shamrock's winger Simon Gagne made a desperate late play for a spot in the Three Stars of the Round; in Boston's series-winning 6-2 win over the Bearded Badgers Gagne fired a staggering 15 shots on net. It resulted in two goals.

Here are the Three Stars of the Round for Round Two:

1st: Tomas Vokoun
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Vokoun10
The Czech netminder led the Cherrypickers to a series sweep of the Knights of Columbus, allowing only three goals in the four games for a save percentage of .971, getting 2 shutouts along the way.

2nd: Shane Doan
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Doan10
The Shamrocks winger moved up one star from last round, though he only managed 7 points in 6 games this round, but he had a hat trick and also a +5 rating as he helped the Shamrocks reach the 606HL final, and he goes into it leading the league in points, and on a 5-game point streak.

3rd: Simon Gagne
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Gagne10
Another Shamrocks winger managed 7 points and also notched a hat trick, though Gagne was only a +2 rating.

Honourable Mentions:
Stephen Weiss, also of Boston, had 7 assists and a +2 rating this round, putting him first among centers in playoff points.
Ryan Getzlaf lies in second among centers, after he got 5 assists in the Cherrypickers 4 games, though Getzlaf also racked up 8 Pims.
The one stand-out performer from the Knights of Columbus in their horror show against the Cherrypickers was backup goaltender Martin Biron. Biron was called up twice to relieve Jonathan Quick, and in a total of 36:46 of ice time saved all 21 shots he faced.

Dishonourable Mentions
In the Buttercups-Shamrocks series, there were two fights; first Ohlund and Wisniewski squaring off in Game 1, before Hossa and Armstrong did so in Game 3. Both ended in draws
In the Cherrypickers-KoC series there were also two fights, with Malone and McKee drawing in Game 2, and then Hunter beating up Gleason in Game 4. On both occasions, the KoC player was ejected for instigating - first Malone and then Hunter.
In Game 1 of the KoC-Cherrypickers series, Tomas Vokoun's job was made a lot easier by his opponents, as the Knights only managed 9 shots in the whole game, almost gifting Vokoun the shutout.

And Finally...
Game 3 of the Shamrocks-Buttercups series saw a wild first period of scoring. After Boston took the lead, the Buttercups tied it up just 20 seconds later. The Sharmocks then retook the lead, only for the Buttercups to once again tie it up just 8 seconds later. The Shamrocks, though, kept pushing and then scored 3 goals in 13 seconds to take a 5-2 lead at the end of the period.

Many congratulations to the Boston Shamrock's, deserving winners of the 606HL Trophy this year, and comiserations to the valiant losing finalists the McBuck Cherrypickers. As might be expected, though, Boston swept the board in the final round's Three Stars; here they are the Three Stars of the Round for the final round of the playoffs:

1st: Stephen Weiss
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Weiss10
The league's top point scorer in the regular season took over the league lead in points in the playoffs in the final round - to land himself the Jari Kurri Cup - with 10 points in 5 games, also managing a +7 rating along the way, giving him a great shot at the Red Kelly Trophy for playoff MVP.

2nd: Simon Gagne
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Gagne11
The Shamrocks winger ended the playoffs with the most points from any left winger with 20, 6 of which came in the final round. Gagne also had a +6 rating over the five games.

3rd: Marty Turco
606HL Three Stars - Page 4 Turco10
The Boston netminder led his team to the 4-1 series win in the final. Turco never allowed more than 2 goals in a game, finishing the round with a GAA of 1.57, and a SV% of .929 as Boston stormed to winning the King's Cup

Honourable Mentions:
Two more Shamrocks deserve a mention; firstly Jason Arnott, who notched 5 points in the series.
Secondly Shane Doan, another challenger for the Red Kelly Trophy, and winner of the Mario Lemieux Trophy for top playoff goalscorer, who in the final added 3 goals and an assist, though also racked up 12 PIMs.
Whilst the Cherrypickers lost the series, it was an impressive showing from center Ryan Getzlaf, who once again deserves an honourable mention with 4 points to lead his team in the series.
Johan Hedberg, the Cherrypickers backup goaltender, once again showed his class when called upon, saving all five shots faced in just over 17 minutes when called upon in Game 1. If only the Cherrypickers had put him in net earlier...
Joe Pavelski, another Shamrock, also deserves recognition for his efforts. He only managed two assists in the series. But his efforts in the faceoff circle were what truly helped his team, as he won two thirds of his faceoffs.

Dishonourable Mentions:
None to mention this week. All players conducted themselves most honourably in a great final round.

And Finally...
Olli Jokinen's inclusion in the Shamrock's lineup was disputed by many fans, but their worries over his possible hindering the team were eased by his limited ice time - the Finn totalled 6 minutes TOI in the five-game series.
But Jokinen was not the most shunned player in the lineups; the Cherrypickers' Jim Slater, who was strangely dropped for the final game of the series, was held to just 5 minutes of ice time through the first 4 games. Slater could be considered unlucky to have managed to get a -1 rating in Game 1 considering he was only on the ice for 1 minute. However he has only himself to blame for his performance in Game 4, as he spent more time in the penalty box than on the ice, as, after sitting on the bench for over two and a half periods, he finally had his chance with his 'Minute of Magic' on the ice late on in the third, only to be called for hooking.
