Beefs not off to ideal start
Over the off season there was a lot of excitement around the Beefs. They had just come off a strong season that saw them top the division and get to the conference finals in the playoffs. Couple that with the promotion of a couple of budding super stars from the farm and there was a belief that this season could be even better.
So far, that is not the case.
The Beefs opened the season on the road and stumbled out to a 4-0 loss against the Scarabs. Things improved but not enough for game 2 as they lost 4-3 to new division rivals Fumblesaurus Rex. To make matters worse, the other members of the division (Chatham Victory and McBuck Cherrypickers) also got wins in their openers meaning despite playing 2 games the Beefs find themselves dead last in the league.
It is early days but the Beefs do not have much time to re-organise as they now travel home to face the defending champs who are coming off of a home opener that saw the Steves ruin their banner raising ceremony. Chances are they will be out hungry to make up for that defeat.
In the farm the Baby Beefs continue to do what they do best no matter what call ups get made. Last season saw the promotion of long time leader Oscar Moller along with David Rundblad while this season saw Stanley Cupp and Jamie Benn earn promotions along with Robyn Regehr earning a slot to replace the retired captain.
The Baby Beefs opened up with a 4-1 win over the Maine Men and followed that up with a shootout win over Downtown Wackdown. Marcel Noebels, Juuso Ikonen and Jamie Oleksiak all got their first points and Deslauriers was excellent in goal casting doubt once again over who should be starting for the big team especially considering Holes struggles.
With the early season results are we expected to see some changes made already or will the Beefs allow themselves time to settle in. With Cupp and Benn both earning their first pro points they have proven they are not out of place.
