Beefs and Baby Beefs advance
It took 7 games but the Beefs finally fought off the Badgers to advance to the second round setting up another mouth watering rivalry game against the Chatham Victory.
After winning game 5, the Badgers rebounded in a big way forcing a game 7 on the back of a 7-5 win. Kent Simpson then, after some shaky games, really stepped up and sealed out game 7 stopping 30 of 31 shots on route to a 4-1 win. Eriksson has really helped lead the way with an astonishing 11 assists through 7 games while Krejci, Moller and Nugent-Hopkins have helped pace the team in goals.
Coming up in round 2 is a team well known to the Beefs in the Victory. The Beefs skated to a 3-4-1 record in the regular season against the Victory and the worrying thing has to be the 33 goals against, more than any other team. However in the playoffs it is a different ball game and the Beefs will be looking to make up for the last few games against one of their most hated rivals.
Down in the farm the Baby Beefs made short work of the Downtown Wackdown in 5 games to set up a 2nd round matchup with the Garden Red Roses.
The Baby Beefs dominated the regular season series 5-1-0 only allowing 13 goals while scoring 23 of their own. However few teams are as hot as the Red Roses right now as they are on a 11-1-1 run that goes back into the regular season which includes a 4-1 series win over the heavily favoured Porstmouth Pirates.
Be sure to stay tuned to see how far both teams advance.
