Draft day saw more changes for the Colombia Steves. Star winger Rene Bourque was traded along with centre Joshua Bailey. In return, Steves received future star forwards Ryan Strome and Bob Ring. Steves also received the 3rd overall pick which was used to select Nail Yakupov.

Colombia Steves picks:
RW - Nail Yakupov - 3rd overall
C - Nicolas Kreider - 7th overall
LW - Philip DiGiuseppe - 22nd overall
D - Derrick Pouliot - 27th overall
Lw - Andy Pandy - 34th overall

GM Iggy held a press conference shortly after the draft to explain his decisions. Here are some of the highlights:

"We had a call from the Brewers moments before the draft enquiring about Bourque. Its never an easy decision to trade a 40 goal scorer, but the pieces were got back will allow both the pro and farm teams to develop at the right pace, and the natural progression for the young guys coming up and the pros reaching the end of their careers works well for us. Strome, Ring and Nail are all future top six forwards. Its not often you get a chance to get a group with the talent these guys have and develop them together from an early age. Along with Nino, Schenn and Perron are top six will be amongst the best in the league as they all develop through the farm and then to the pros."

"All the guys drafted tonight have been made offers, as have all free agents we want to return."

"We expect the pros to be making the playoffs. If the team works hard this year, a cup is not out of the question. A captain will be selected during training camp"

"The farm has a few new faces and recent signing Ryan Parent will captain the team. Ryans experience is key to helping a young group of defence men break out and push to the next level. Are forward lines are full of talented scorers who will get plenty of opportunity to show what they can do. There is no pressure on the farm to win, but we have all they right players to have a great season"

"Were not expecting any more trades. We have a spot on the 3rd line if the right free agent is available."
