Carter to LA for Johnson and pick
To LA - J.Carter C
To Columbus - J.Johnson D + 1st
Works out OK for both teams here I think. LA need the goals, and the Blue Jackets need to shore up the defence. However, I think the addition of a 1st is a bit too top heavy. Maybe a 4th or something, but a 1st seems a bit too much to sweeten the deal. I think Johnson is a solid young defender and he is probably worth more to the Jackets than this deal suggests.

A good deal for Columbus. Although Johnson is a career -90, he has a good contract and should produce well if paired with Wiznasty.
Carter is an appalling professional. I don't understand why the party capital of the US would deliberately trade for the biggest party animal in the US. A dreadful move for the Kings.

I think the 1st is conditional, 2012 if LA make the playoffs and 2013 if they don't. As it stands, I think Columbus did well here, getting a very good young D-man and losing a highly paid and underperforming Carter.
While I know how good Carter can be I don't see where he fits in LA. With Kopitar leading the top line, Richards on second, and Stoll on the third do they switch Carter to the wing? I assume thats the plan, and that in theory would be great, but if Richards, Kopitar and Gagne (i know Gagne is injured) are underperforming, will Carter provide that spark?

Re: Carter to LA for Johnson and pick
I think Colombus got the better of the deal.
Both players were 1st round, 3rd picks in their respective drafts and as Leafy said, Colombus got rid of a man who really didnt want to be there.
In return they get a d-man, who I think, for what its worth, is better than he stats show. On top of that, they get a 1st round pick.
Does this trade mean that Nash may be staying? If not, I cannot see the Blue Jackets logic. Trading Nash, Carter and Vermette, does it make any sense?

Carter in L.A.?
Great idea, away from all that temptation to party in Columbus.
I didn't realise how egregious the Carter contract was... yeesh

Win for Columbus if the Kings fail to make the play-offs this season which is a coin toss.

Re: Carter to LA for Johnson and pick
Problems the Kings are having are not down to what players they have...they have guys who can score, Kopitar, Brown, Richards, Penner all know how to do it they just aren't getting it done. I think the problem is with their system as to why they aren't scoring and I don't think Carter will change that.

Well Dustin Brown is having a good week, but Carter and co have been rubbish

So we rinse Columbus to get rid of Carter, and then CBJ rinse LA to get rid of him, too.
