Re: Final standings predictions.
Simple explanation is top 3 seeds are guaranteed, then you get the next 2 teams from each conf based on points. So for example I had 5. Phoenix in Pacific making the playoffs but 4. Dallas in Central not because I am going on the prediction that Phoenix finish with more points than Dallas.
I was torn on who gets the last spot in the East too between Islanders and Toronto.

Re: Final standings predictions.
That makes sense. Im actually looking forward to a season where i don't have to worry about standings. Everyone expects Calgary to loose every game and finish last so i can just ejoy the games without being to worried about the results.
Leafs or Islanders for me comes down to Tavares vs Kessel, and Tavares has show he is more capable of lifting the ability of the players he is playing with with. Kessel just gets everyone suspended.

Re: Final standings predictions.
Yeah you might be right there! The metrosexual division could end up so many different ways though and being a tougher division than the one the Leafs are in that could be the difference.

I am a big Colorado fan but their D is like a who's who of turnovers.

Re: Final standings predictions.
I love some of their players but..... (I know it is pre-season) but they got destroyed by a team consisting of a large chunk of our AHL team. They may be fun to watch at times but their D is downright awful.... one of the few teams capable of making our D look good!
Re: Final standings predictions.
Two years ago, we would have been saying 'Toronto? really?..... really?' Now look - most are tipping them to get in again. The Avs will bounce back at some point, and with the forward firepower they have, along with Varly in the pipes I think it is this season. And Roy on the bench will be a big bonus for them too.mc_homer wrote:Colorado? really?..... really?

Re: Final standings predictions.
At some point yes the Avs will bounce back but even with their full squad out in pre-season they looked terrible. Sort the D out and a little more growth from their forwards and they will be a force.... this season, no way.

I think he is smarming because Colorado destroyed Anaheim.

Probably.... I was hoping he wasn't gonna try telling me that 1 game makes a season
Re: Final standings predictions.
Having seen the Devils opening night roster i would like to relegate them beneath Carolina in my list!

Oh come on..... Jagr isn't that bad!sportsportsport wrote:Having seen the Devils opening night roster i would like to relegate them beneath Carolina in my list!
Re: Final standings predictions.
Wait is Jagr even playing? Or is he injured? I haven't paid attention
Re: Final standings predictions.
Worryingly for the Devils, Jagr is probably the best player they have! Watch us lose 10-0 tonight now!

Re: Final standings predictions.
Don't understand why they're putting Ryder on the 3rd line. Surely he's a better option than Brunner and Jagr?
Re: Final standings predictions.
I was actually getting ready to concede I was wrong on the Avs. But if last night was an indication of their play in general then this streak will not last. They were pretty bad in general last night although with those forwards they are always dangerous and can be fun to watch. Also Varlamov is really rather good! He robbed us on more than a few occasions.
Fair play if they keep this up and make the playoffs but I still see them missing out.
