Awww, that's lovely. I like otters. Play, swim, eat fish. Works for me.
Anyway, we're off! Brackets have been locked, so we can now go in and look at who everyone else has picked.

Re: March Madness
And we have our first result (Michigan State beating Valparaiso) which was called correctly by four out of five of us.

Re: March Madness
So Akron are getting their arses handed to them by VCU. There goes one quarter of my bracket.
Re: March Madness
I haven't checked but I can only assume that all went well for my bracket. Yes, hiding from the results is my method.

Re: March Madness
Indeed Mr Buff. You are the early leader with 13 out of 16 picks.
Listening to the news this morning, it seems as if Harvard have single-handedly wrecked everyone's bracket.

Re: March Madness
And after the first round of 32 games our joint leaders are me and Buff with 22 correct picks.
In third place with 18 correct picks is Pete. But sadly because he picked Georgetown as his ultimate champions, his bracket is screwed because Georgetown were dumped out of the competition by the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles (whoever the fuck they are).
Zee is in fourth place. There's an awful lot of red in his bracket and thanks to Harvard he's lost one of his semi finalists (New Mexico), but there are still plenty of points up for grabs and Kentucky are still in it.
And bringing up the rear is Mr MockingJay. No Cinderella story for Akron, but your chosen champs, Ohio State are still going strong.
Points are doubled for the next round so things are about to get interesting.

Re: March Madness
You make it sound worse than it is. I think I'll get back into it. Got Ohio, Syracuse, Duke, Louisville and surely Gonzago will beat Ole Miss or La Salle.
Georgetown were my backup in the unlikely event Akron failed. Balls.

Re: March Madness
And so we've reached the 'sweet sixteen'.
I think we can safely say that Pete is doomed. A Memphis v Georgetown final looked great on paper, but it's not going to happen now.
As for the rest of us, I may be top of the league now, but my pick for the championship, Gonzaga, have been dumped out of the competition, which means I will probably be overtaken in the next round.
Buff's off-the-wall choice of Mississippi (how the fuck do you spell that?) was looking good right up until they got beaten by one of the few teams who were seeded even lower than they were.
Which leaves us with Zee and Mr MockingJay. Zee is currently in second place, and still has both his champion and runner-up left in the competition (Kansas & Duke). And while Mr MockingJay might be in last place at the moment, three out of his four semi-finalists have survived including his champion and runner up.
The games will be played on Thursday and Friday, with the winners progressing to the 'Elite Eight' and the losers getting death threats from disgruntled bracket owners.

Re: March Madness
So the swet sixteen is underway, and your bracket's looking good Zee.
Unfortunately the same can't be said for the rest of us.

Yeah. Double shit with a cherry on top.
Is young Mr MockingJay going to sneak a win? I think he's the only one left who's chosen team can still win the competition.

I stopped paying attention. I'm done now. Got Louisville in the Final Four and that's it. Ohio and Indiana was my final.
Re: March Madness
Blimey, I think I've actually won this. First time I've won anything.
Thanks for playing along, and I love Buff's idea of food-based picks.

Re: March Madness
It's March Madness time again and I've re-activated the group. Anyone who picks a perfect bracket gets $1bn from that nice Warren Buffet chap. So what are you waiting for?
Same name as last year - Basketball
and the password is 606basket.
The group ID# is 8144
At the moment all you can do is name your bracket, because the teams' seedings won't be announced until March 16th.
