Trade deadline madness again
Once again the Beefs were active at the deadline despite not really showing any indication of moves. GM Homer was adamant that he would not be breaking up the farm team in order to push for the pro playoffs and while the cost was high he did manage to pick up a vital piece for the stretch drive.
The Beefs acquired veteran winger Marian Hossa from the Fairytale Buttercups in exchange for Ales Hemsky and 2 first round picks. GM Homer said this about the trade, "We wish Hemsky all the best for the future and thank him for all of his strong efforts. We feel that Hossa brings another strong chip to the table to keep up with the likes of the Badgers and Shamrocks who possess some very strong scoring."
Marian Hossa brings with him elite level scoring with 38 goals and 43 assists in 63 games this year. Early indications will be that he will take to the ice with David Backes and Dustin Boyd however the temptation to team him up with Dany Heatley will almost surely lead to some tests with the high scoring pair.
The Beefs were rumoured to be in discussion with a multitude of other players also with the names Zach Parise, Shea Weber, James Neal and Evander Kane all being banded about but nothing else materialised.
There was also drama at the deadline as the Crunch and Buttercups had a monster deal agreed but mistakes in the admin caused the deal to fail to make the deadline.
Marian Hossa will make his Beef debut tonight against the Chatham Victory.

The Crunch and Buttercups trade was what I messaged you about. Marc messed up the original post so Mandy couldn't accept but they decided to just delete it rather than push to see if we would allow it.

Oh OK. Yeah it was huge with a lot of big pieces moving so I would have needed to sit down and look at it properly. Was glad when it disappeared
