March Madness
Would anyone be interested in doing a college basketball 'March Madness' bracket? Just a bit of fun (and bragging rights obviously).
If anyone is interested, iI'll set it up in Yahoo seeing as that's where most of us are with the fantasy hockey. I'm really crap at picking my teams, and the only year I managed to get a top three finish was because I lurked on the 606 basketball board and nicked all their suggestions.

Ok, I will join in, even though the only think I know less about than college basketball is the Finnish Wife Carrying championships.

Re: March Madness
My knowledge of college basketball is so limited, that I genuinely thought a British team had entered. Someone had to take me to one side and explain that UK actually stood for University of Kentucky.

Re: March Madness
Right, I've set up a group called 606 Basketball and the password is 606basket.
The group ID# is 27464.
At the moment all you can do is name your bracket, because the teams' seedings won't be announced until March 17th.
Once the teams are announced, all you need to do is fill in the bracket all the way to the final, and that's it.

I know that March Madness is college basketball tournament where anyone can win, like the ultimate American dream. That is all.
My pick > Mississippi > Why? Because I like Mississippi mudslide

Re: March Madness
That's as good a reason as any for picking a team Buff. So get your bracket in.
Methods on choosing teams employed by members of my group at work include:
1. Hottest cheerleaders
2. Cutest players
3. Who would win in a mascot fight
4. Alma mater (no good for me seeing as Leeds Met haven't got a team)
5. Home town
6. Coolest kit
7. Blindly stabbing with a pencil (my method)
8. Picking the top seeds all the way through
9. Which litter box the cat chooses to crap in (Jay swears by this one)
10. Choosing last year's winner

And here are some handy hints for when you fill out your bracket
Clicky
As I said, the less you know about college basketball, the better.

Re: March Madness
OK I did it. it took 92 seconds and I stuck with Mississippi. I didn't know what the tie-breaker thing was meant to be out of so I put 3-2

Re: March Madness
I think choosing a winner based on a favourite drink is a great idea. But you may want to reconsider your 3-2 tie-breaker. It's supposed to be what you think the final score of the championship game will be. And seeing as its a basketball game and not a hockey game, 3-2 is possibly a leetle bit low. Just sayin'.

Re: March Madness
Is there a bonus prize if you get all of your first round picks wrong?

There should be!
So has anyone done their bracket by using stats from previous years, research, and other sensible stuff, or have we all just done variations on the random pointing method?

I've gone with 3-2 and I am sticking with it CJ. If I have managed to get the championship teams right then the basketball Gods must have already taken a shining to me and will reward me further.
