Beefs bouncing back strong
After an up and down start to the season the Beefs have vaulted themselves into contention for the division title a third of the way through the season. After a strong start that saw 3 straight wins the Beefs went on a slump losing 4 straight and 11 of the next 16 leaving them with an 8-9-2 record 19 games in. Changes were made with the biggest move of all being the demotion of Deslauriers to the farm. Young Howie Hole was brought up to have a shot and after a shaky start has solidified himself as the teams best goalie at the moment. Deslauriers did enough in his brief stay in the farm to bring himself back up to serve as backup but on the back of Holes performances the team has earned themselves an 8 game win streak that they put on the line against the Buttercups tonight.
Aside from Hole we have seen excellent performances from Eriksson and Krejci who have really taken control of the team with Heatley seemingly turning from a goal scorer into a playmaker. Moller has also looked good putting up 21 points in 27 performances in his rookie season.
Down in the farm the Baby Beefs have kept up a good pace despite the promotion of Moller to the pro team. They haven't started out quite as hot as they have half of last seasons losses already but with a record of 18-7-2 they sit 2nd in the conference and are looking very strong for another return to the post season. Considering the regular season success of the team they have been unable to get the big prize and are hoping that this year they can make that leap.
With the goalie movement Carey Price has kept the Baby Beefs solid with some good numbers and Jeff Skinner has stepped into Mollers shoes nicely sitting on 36 pts in 27 games. The new kids have had a tough time getting going but with Cupp, Benn, RNH and Skinner there is plenty of talent to carry the team. Tonight will also see the return of Nicholas Griffin the teams PIM's leader. Griffin was suspended for 4 games for an unsportsmanlike conduct call against the Banshees.
