Beefs have high hopes for the draft.
Tomorrow night will see the 4th entry draft of the 606HL and barring any last minute trades, will make the first time the Beefs do not hold a first round pick. Both first rounders the Beefs held were sent in exchange for Marian Hossa from the Fairytale Buttercups.
This year the Beefs hold a 2nd round pick, a 4th round pick and three 5th round picks. Still there is reason to be hopeful the Beefs can nab a decent player from the draft as history has shown.
2nd round picks for the Beefs:
Austin Watson (35th overall year 2)
David Rundblad (40th overall year 2)
Ben Down (28th overall year 3)
4th round picks for the Beefs:
Mattias Lindstrom (64th overall year 2)
Tyler Wotherspoon (79th overall year 4)
5th round picks for the Beefs:
Brandon Pirri (100th overall year 2)
Bob Copp (83rd overall year 3)
Nicholas Griffin (98th overall year 4)
Austin Watson is currently playing on the 2nd line for the Baby Beefs putting up reasonable numbers while David Rundblad has been a huge part of the Baby Beefs success and likely to be moving on to the big team this season. Ben Down has also been developing nicely into a solid puck moving defenceman for the team. Bob Copp and Nicholas Griffin are both rumoured to be making their way to the Baby Beefs for this season while Pirri, Lindstrom and Wotherspoon are no longer with the team.
Who will the Beefs be targeting in the draft? GM Homer has remained tight lipped about his intentions so I guess we will just have to wait and see!

Re: Beefs have high hopes for the draft.
The Beefs came away from last nights draft with 5 new players, most of which were taken in the later rounds however GM Homer says he expects a number of them to make the farm team some time down the line.
Round 3 #33 Beefs select Ludvig Bystrom.
Bystrom is an offensively minded blueliner who has good skating and puck handling skills. He will continue to play in Sweden for the upcoming season to continue his development as a top end PP quarterback.
Round 4 #73 Beefs select Doug Glatt.
Glatt made waves in juniors for his ability to throw his weight around and that is exactly what GM Homer hopes he can bring to the Baby Beefs this coming season. Given the opportunity GM Homer believes he can put the puck in the net as well.
Round 5 #93 Beefs select Steve McQueen.
McQueen is a solid sniper in juniors and will continue his development there this season.
Round 5 #96 Beefs select Carlton Carlson.
Another solid winger in the juniors that has playmaking ability and a physical edge. The Beefs hope he and McQueen can make a good pairing down the line.
Round 5 #100 Beefs select Mike Dingleberry.
After much hinting all through the evening, Homer finally picked his man with the last pick of the day. Dingleberry is a solid defender with good size who will continue his play in the junior leagues this season.
