Beefs very happy with draft
So the dust has settled on another 606HL entry draft and with this year the Beefs held the St Louis Spirit's pick which thanks to the wonders of the draft lottery turned out to be the top overall pick. GM Homer wasted no time in picking centre Ryan Nugent-Hopkins making him the teams first 1st overall pick.
After this the Beefs didn't own any picks until the 4th round (70th overall) and with one player on his mind GM Homer traded up to the beginning of the 3rd round (43rd overall) by moving the 70th overall pick along with a 3rd rounder in year 5 to the Flaming Ducks. The player on Homers mind? Big hulking defender Jamie Oleksiak.
The Beefs had 2 picks left after the trade made earlier in the day to bring back Kipper. With these picks the Beefs selected defender Tyler Wotherspoon (79th) and right winger Nicholas Griffin (98th).
'We are very pleased with our selections and feel they give the future of our club a lot of stability.' Said GM Homer.
Nugent-Hopkins is expected to join the Baby Beefs as they attempt to make up for the disappointment of last season where they lost out in the final of the playoffs. Most of the team will remain the same as last year and with Nugent Hopkins being added to that they hope to be a lot stronger.
As for free agency GM Homer refused to comment on if the team would be active or not in signing players.
