Ducks go Quackers at the deadline Empty Ducks go Quackers at the deadline

There were some big moves once again for the Flaming Ducks as the team continues to look to the future and develop young players from within.

Jason Pominville was traded to the Shamrocks along with a 1st and 2nd in the year 6 draft, in return for exciting young forward Ryan Strome and what is expected to be a high 1st in the year 6 draft. Strome will join the ducklings as they continue their playoff push. With 19 goals and 47 points Strome is the highest point scorer on the ducklings team, and at just 17 years old, looks to have a great future ahead.

Paul Stastny was also traded in exchange for Victor Hedman and Brad Richards. Richards will add goals to a team that has struggled offensively this season, but more importantly will be the key in developing the players that come through the farm with his playmaking, scoring and experience. The Ducks will be hoping that Enver Lisin will find his early season form once again playing with a more offensively minded centre. Victor Hedman adds to the impressive group of you D the ducks now have. With Hedman, Burns, Fowler and White all on the blue line next season the Ducks will have scoring threats all over the Ice.

The Flaming Ducks GM had the following to say:

Were excited to welcome three great players to this team. Richards is a proven scorer and a natural leader. He is looking forward to working with some great young prospects and helping to build this team into a contender. Hedman is an exciting talent, he has a complete game and we can't wait for him to join the Pro's next season. Strome is already a top player in the farm, and at 17 he's only going to get better.

Hedman and Strome will join up with the Ducklings for the remainder of the season. Were looking to finish the regular season as strong as possible as a playoff match up with the beef is looking likely. The farm is a well balanced team, we have 15 guys with 10 goals or more and were going to need that if we want to succeed.

We still have plenty of work to do, and have our sights firmly set on a couple of player in this years draft who can make an immediate impact on the team. 2 high picks this year and another 2 high picks next year and we will be in a very strong position.

All the guys on this team should be excited and motivated, there is plenty of competition but there are also plenty of pro roster places available next season.
