Beefs face many questions.

After missing the playoffs last season, ending any chance of a repeat, the Beefs enter this season full of questions. Is the team up to retaking their crown or are they in need of a rebuild? Do they have enough of a young core to feel hopeful and is it worth using any of that to try and push the pro team forward?

Pre-season didn't get off to the best of starts with the Beefs losing both of their opening games 5-4 to the Badgers and 6-3 to the Victory. The Badgers game at least saw a spirited fight back from a 5-0 deficit in the 3rd but it wasn't enough while the Victory game was almost the exact opposite with the Beefs keeping with their opponents until the third period where they failed to step up the pace needed.

More worrying is the fact that 4 of their 7 goals came from guys with limited ice time. The only one of the top end guys really doing his job was the Captain Jarome Iginla. GM Homer insisted he was not too worried as it is only pre-season which gives them the time they need to find the right balance.

In the farm however things were a lot smoother as the Baby Beefs won both of their contests with a 2-1 win over the moles and a 3-2 SO win over the pirates. Most impressive was that they outshot their opponents 71-47 in those 2 games. Both goalies looked strong and David Rundblad looks to pick up in the space of fan favourite Andrej Sekera who finds himself with the big team. Rundblad had 3 assists and a +3 rating in the first 2 games.

Tonight sees the Beefs travel to yet another rival in the Fairytale Buttercups and on a side note the Beefs have noticed that they have managed to build up a rivalry with every single team in their division.....It is going to be a very tough season!
