I couldn't find the old thread on the realignment

Re: Realignment
I say it again, bring it on! Less 3am starts for me
As Melrose said, I can see this leading to 2 expansions fairly soon.

"It sucks ass" - everyone who isn't a Dallas fan.
And the two expansions would have to be in the west, which means Seattle and where else?

Calgary. They don't have a team.

Re: Realignment
How Dare you Buff! The Flames have just come off thier biggest winning steak of the season! Two wins in a row! (and then we lost again )
If were going to do this, we should make all players FA's and everyteam can start from scratch.

Re: Realignment
I would think Detroit are also over the moon with this....not that I care much for them
Also who's to say they can't move a team from one division to another should they expand to a team in somewhere like Quebec?

Re: Realignment
Why move a team twice in a few years when you can chuck CBJ in with Dal, Det, Chi, or a team from the NE into the central so East and West both have a 7 and 8 team division?
Oh that's right, it's because it's not a stupid idea!

Re: Realignment
That was a hypothetical situation. We might not see any new teams for several years or at all....
A stupid idea was having teams play in divisions multiple time zones away. Would I have kept one of CBJ or Det in the west? Sure but the league is attempting to solve each teams issues i.e travel.

Re: Realignment
Dreger is tweeting that players aren't happy having both 7 team conferences are in the west. They would rather see one of CBJ or DET staying so that there is no imbalance between East and West.

Re: Realignment
Hilarious.
Boston are in the Central division, as are Florida. Columbus in the Atlantic, and that's just at-a-glance.
As far as we're concerned, it's good for us, as we have less mammoth road trips to the West coast. However, I wonder why the above moves are made.
Yes, expansion in the West seems to be the point here, with Seattle, and maybe Las Vegas or something getting an NHL team? Maybe another Canadian team?

Re: Realignment
The players have approved the realignment but want to review it after the 2014-15 season. They have to find a new name for the "Central" division or just call the Atlantic the Central.
Re: Realignment
Yeah. It'll be Atlantic, Central, Midwest and Pacific.
I suspect it's called the central because from Montreal to Miami it makes a "C" shape around the Atlantic.
I like the division I just wish they'd give it a better name.

Re: Realignment
Having just spent two weeks in Hawaii and are about to board our flight back to snowy Boston, Mr C and I have decided that there should be an expansion team in Honolulu. We've come up with a name - the Honolulu Volcanoes, and a logo (similar to the Avs, but with lava instead of snow), and we think it would be a viable option. Going to write to Bettman as soon as I get home.

Re: Realignment
Of course, this new team will play in what was the East, because fuck common sense.

Re: Realignment
So the realignment is official. CBJ and Red Wings to the East, and the Jets to the West.
The upside is more Datsyukian wizardry to watch. Unfortunately, the downside is watching the aforementioned wizardry turning my Bruins inside-out.
