This is not a good sign for any future CBA.
I wouldn't be suprised if the uneven confrences is the problem.

It's definitely not a good sign. Still looking at Puck Daddy's entry on it and Daly's recent video comments they actually scrapped this idea to prevent a war with the NHLPA now. Looking at that article the league was completely taking the piss with the realignment negotiations. I didn't know or even realise the players would need / want an input into it but clearly they have a huge interest in the realignment. The fact that the league not only didn't invite them to join in but refused to listen to their concerns shows who is really at fault.

What I don't get is why the NHLPA has ANY say whatsoever - why do they, and why should they? They're a representative of the players, not a governing body, and the NHL should be able to re-alignas it sees fit.
I'm just gutted about the lost games vs the Sharks /(

The NHL could just realign, but then the NHLPA would tell their players that if they didn't like it to stike. It would be quite hard to play an NHL game with 2-3 men on a side.

Fehr finally says something, nothing new though except that this isn't going not affect the CBA negotiations

Tinfoil hat time. the nhlpa couldnt actually block it just not give consent. Some have suggested the league killed it becausr they didnt want it in the first place. It wasnt mr bettmans idea it came from the board.
