It took 4 years...

Tonights game at Consol Energy Centre between the Penguins and the Islanders saw the first Goalie fight in the NHL since Martin Biron and Ray Emery dropped the gloves back in 2007!

With 17seconds remaining, Rick Dipietro started off a scrum by taking down Matt Cooke and the skated towards the blue line and dropped his gloves. Brent Johnson sprinted from his net and whilst the referees tried to intervene they couldn't stop him. What followed was both brilliant and hilarious.

They've been talking about that on LWL. Real bummer for Johnson owners because they don't get the shutout or his PIMs. And anyone who had Fleury sitting in a starter's place rather than on the bench will have his 16 seconds counted as a start, which is a bugger if your league has a limit on the amount of goalie games.

But yeah, goalie fights are great and there should be more of them

To be fair, it was hardly a fight.....DiPietro went down quicker than Audrey Harrison. It was embarrassing easy for Johnson

at least the whole debacle reminded me of a few universal truths that i might have forgotten, e.g. no matter what a filthy set of bastards the flyers are, the bruins are always worse, and do not try to tune into an NESN broadcast on the sly during work hours because your crime will be discovered when you start coughing blood and offering your children to Satan in return for lightning to strike their commentary booth.

Tuning in to an NESN broadcast anywhere is bad enough let alone work hours lol!

lol turns out the tactic of Cammalleriing didn't stand the test of time quite as well as neutral zone trapping or left wing lock - still, it was a fun month. beats your boring tactic of outplaying other teams!
