Off season and season 2

With the first season now in the books we are looking to the off season. I haven't been able to fully test the processes of this yet as it wouldn't show me any options until the playoffs had finished so I will need to get a clearer picture of how it works tonight. My first worry was with rerates as I had a quick look after the sim last night and couldn't see a way to export/import the player files which means I cannot edit them (short of doing the stats one by one!) so there is a possibility I have no choice but to leave the rerate to the sim. I will do some tests to see how it rerates and get a proper process ready tomorrow.

I also need to check out the way the draft works because I am not sure if it lets me edit the order so will need to post that tomorrow also.

Provisionally this is the plan. If I cannot do manual rerates then it will be a simple button click to get that done, which means we can jump straight into the draft very quickly. I would like to begin this on Monday next week if that is ok with everyone here. Can I also ask any that still have outstanding contracts they need to renew to do so between now and the end of the draft (I would like to have this done by Friday next week at the latest ideally.) Then we can begin free agency which I will allow 1 week for before going in to the next season.

So to summarise, the provisional off season schedule is as follows.

• Contract extensions from now until Friday 26th November
  
• Draft to begin Monday 22nd November
  
• Free agency to begin Monday 29th November
  
• Season 2 will begin Monday 6th December.
  

I will post the schedule for the new season as soon as I can, will most likely be during free agency. Also how does everyone feel about doing another preseason? Or would you prefer to jump right into season 2?

I think a preseason would be in order, in case anyone wants to try out new lines or draft picks or some such silliness.

All sounds good to me. I think I sent you some new contracts but I really can't remember what I did. I've probably changed my mind anyway so I will redo them and send them shortly!

As Leafy has brought up I said before that this off season will allow you to dump those silly contracts sitting in your farm so if there are any players you want taken off your roster and put into the free agent pool let me know and I will remove them. Please do this before next Friday (26th).

What are we going to do about rookie signings? I'm used to the NFL "you ain't played before, here, have $50mil for 5 years"...

on the subject of farm rosters, is there going to be a reduction in the number of players on the famr team/overall in the organisation? i seem to remember something being said about it some time but not sure. in any case i'll be shedding some weight in the farm, i have about ten extra defensemen in my farm

Yeah, full roster limit is 50 which includes both Pro and Farm teams.

And on Jonzee's point. I will put a limit on what you can sign a rookie for but need to come up with numbers on that so watch this space.

Didn't you mention something about the sim re-rates sucking?!

Plenty to chew over here...but yes to everything.

When will the draft lottery be?

Yeah I did Ronnie....I don't wanna go down that path if I can have an alternative but we will see what I can do with it. I have never done a rerate on the sim myself so it might even be ok.

I will update on the draft later after some testing with it.
