Cap hit for next season Empty Cap hit for next season

Ok so as we have reached the halfway point (well almost) I thought we should look at what we will set the cap at next season. This will help with you who are already looking at tying up your UFA's and give you time to prepare any cap dumps needed.

So here are the options:

Remains the same: $68.2m
Raise by 1%: $68.882m
Raise by 2%: $69.564m
Raise by 3%: $70.246m

Remember, waivers will be in place next year so you may want to have scratched players on your roster in case of injuries rather than burying everyone you are not dressing into the minors.

I'm all for keeping it the same...we started originally with a vastly inflated cap hit.

I don't really see the point in changing...it's not like we're having to keep up with inflation!

Just a quick point, surely as we all appear to be losing so much money, the salary cap should go down?

I agree to a point Sport, but for argument sake just because I don't want Scott Gomez at $7m, it doesnt mean that somebody else doesn't at $5m. Also we will have the draft. Some of those players won't be cheap, I can see a few being $3m+.

Wages go up year on year, so the cap should too. That was my thinking on it.
