Season 9 Changes

Based on the discussions from last week, I have decided to take the following approach for Season 9.

Each GM can protect 5 players under aged 23 or under and 5 players aged 24 or over along with 2 goalies. All unprotected players will become free agents, including all RFA’s.  
Those that become FA’s will be assigned to teams in order of BPA based on overall rating. I will assign players in draft order but using the fantasy draft method (With the order reversing each round.)

There will be a buyout period, where all teams can buy out any player assigned to them without penalty. All bought out players will become Free Agents.  

Any players whose contract needs to be extended will go through the same process as past seasons.

Free agency will work the same way as it always has. GM’s will need to submit offers for players keeping in mind the salary cap, and the teams Financial budgets, which will be strictly enforced next season.

Full rosters will be required for both Farm and Pro teams. It is important that you all consider this when signing FA’s as incomplete rosters will prevent the sim from running.

Im going to allow teams to keep any unsigned prospects they may have. There will also be an entry draft at some point, although Free Agency will begin before this takes place. The draft will also be shortened to 3 rounds. I will figure out some sort of compensation for any teams that hold multiple 4th and 5th round picks.

I will be doing player rerates this week. These will be complete before I ask you all to submit your lists of protected players.

I am going to introduce a salary cap for the farm teams. This is to prevent GM’s from singing players to large contracts and then burying them in the farm to get under the pro salary cap. It should also encourage trades as players develop and their contracts increase in value.

The Pro salary cap will also go up. Im going to look into this a little more over the next few days to decide what amount it should be. I will announce both the farm and pro salary Caps before we start this process.


My proposed schedule for all of this is as follows:

Player Rerates: June 17th
Salary Cap announced: June 18th
Protected Player submission period: June 18th to June 24th
Unprotected players reassigned to teams: June 24th to June 27th
Entry Draft: June 30th (This can change to accommodate peoples availability)
Contract Extension submission: July 1st to July 8th
Penalty Free Buy Out Period: July 1st to July 8th
Free Agency: July 9th

In all seriousness though. Shouldn't we just pause the league for a bit until we have recruited a decent number of GMs? Right now there is no point moving on to the next season.

Hello. I just want to let you know that I will be dropping out of the league. With so few GMs I just don't have the enthusiasm to continue I'm afraid. On the plus side this means that the most lucrative franchise in the league is available! Best of luck with the sim guys. Buff out.

We have added two new GMs this week buff. Im not going to offer your team to others just yet as im hoping you will change your mind.

Have you considered changing teams. Taking over one of the teams at the bottom of the league could provide a new challenge for you?

So how many GMs are there Iggy? Tbh my heart just isn't in it atm and I don't want to waste anyone's time.
