ESPN NHL Goalie Rankings

So, so many flaws in this list.

Yet more proof that ESPN knows fuck all about hockey.

Let's do our own instead. Everyone rate every goaltender out of 10 for the following characteristics:

Rage
Entertainment
Shoot-out dance
Helmet

That should give us a pretty accurate ranking I reckon.

Well Rask wins the Rage category hands down.....

I always enjoy some goalie rage.

Also, ESPN appear to be rating goalies based solely on their stats from last season.

A: Last season was an anomaly
2: You can make stats prove anything
d: A great goalie with a crap team will still give up goals

This is my favourite Rask clip after Gally scores the winner for the Habs. Goal starts at 6:12. Rask goes down at 6:52.

This is exactly why I think Lehtonen is way too far down this list..... if it wasn't for the fact we played 4-5 rookies on defence last season his numbers wouldn't be nearly as bad. But this is ESPN so it is to be expected.

So does Jimmy Howard win or lose the helmet section for being hardcore and not wearing one in the list?

Which goalie had the mask with a killer snowman firing carrots from a bazooka? That surely goes down as the best mask ever.

As for rage.... Yeah, you can't beat a Tuukka tantrum. Bless 'im.  I think the milk crate is still my favourite.

At least they didn't forget Shane Doan as well....

At least they remembered Kovy "retired"... Oh wait, no they didn't  

To be fair to them they did leave what team he plays for blank and said the team less Morrow is still a Penguin.

But then why not put every retired player in the list? Gretzky is more likely to play in the NHL again then Kovy.

After leaving Bobby Ryan out of the top 100 forwards ESPN have also decided that Ottawa are the best Canadian team, 3rd overall in the NHL, and 9th in the whole of North American sports.
