Police Commissioner Voting
Ayup, has anyone had any information through their door about any of the candidates?

Re: Police Commissioner Voting
No idea what is going on. Fecked if I am going to trundle along to a polling station (Where is it? I assume the same pace I voted in the nationals). Why not hold it on the same day as other votes to encourage turn out. Why would I want a wanabe politician leading the police force anyway. Scrutinise perhaps, but not lead, direct, plan and resource.

Re: Police Commissioner Voting
I've had two out of the six
Number 1...Jas Parmar. Sikh ex copper...seems a nice guy. Bright blue turban may mean Conservative links
Number2..name I can't remember...British Freedom candidate with links to the EDL...got a face that looks like it's been smacked around a bit. Wouldn't mind having a go myself!
As for the other four...Ive not a scooby....I may have to go on the BBC website and have a look.
Apparently it was going to cost £32m to put leaflets through the doors of every household, which the government decided was too expensive.
Therefore the only candidates to do anything have got large party financial backing.
Bedfordshire alone would need 2million leaflets. Too big a job for any Independant canidate.
Talk about chalk and cheese

I was reading about my local ones earlier, only one of the six had any form of police involvement. All the rest look ridiculous!

Re: Police Commissioner Voting
Nothing at all though the door here, not even the government leaflet with information about the elections.
Not heard from either of the Labour/Tory candidates, and when I was in Beeston, saw a sandwich board on a car for one of the independents.
So, I either have two choices:
I'm open to suggestions.

So, I either have two choices:
- Vote for the only candidate whose name I have seen not just on the web
- Spoil my vote

Re: Police Commissioner Voting
TVPCC candidates:
1. Patience. Lass. Charity worker. Independent. More hippy than copper.
2. Barry. Fella. Carpenter. UKIP. Admits no knowledge whatsoever of policing.
3. Geoff. Fella. School governor and councillor (i.e. no proper job). Independent. Wants people to run the police.
4. Professor John. Fella. Magistrate. Liberal. Thinks he knows policing because he was stabbed when he was a teacher and has been burgled.
5. Anthony. Fella. Ex army, now runs plane business. Conservative. Wants to reduce rural crime - presumably via shotgun.
6. Tim. Fella. Former Liberal councillor. Labour (what? yep, turncoat). Wants to stop cutbacks.
So, in essence I can't vote for a dude called Tim (especially a turncoat), can't go with Prof John because he's an idiot, Can't vote Geoff because he's a bigger idiot, can't vote Patience because she's a hippy.
So that leaves a carpenter who knows bugger all or a man who wants to sort out rural crime (I live in a city. Well town that pretends it's a city).
I'm going with Barry, because Barry the Time Sprout is called Barry, and while they all know fuck all about coppering, only he will admit the fact.

Nice Robert Rankin reference there Leafy. The Brentford Triangle is one of those books that I can't read in public because my laughing puts people off.
I was hoping there would be an Officer Dibble on the ballot paper.

I was hoping more for Hugo Artemis Solon Saturnicus Reginald Arthur Rune, after all he must have been a copper at some point...

Re: Police Commissioner Voting
It seems I am spoilt for choice. We have 2 candidates.
Matthew. Toff. Officers not doing paperwork but no mention of cutting paperwork. IPads on the beat.
Joy. Zebra cardigan and pearls. A local. Fond of PCSOs.
Since both candidates are outstanding in their own ways I can't bring myself to decide between them.

Leafy I have the same candidates, Barry looks like a bit of a prat, I like the rural shotgun wielding fellow! He also works with planes which surely means Thames valley police will get fighter jets in the near future!

That would be rather cool:
Scrote: I've just nicked this car, I'll outrun the fuzz!
Copper: You may outrun my Astra, but how fast can you go?
Scrote: 180mph!
Copper: Not Mach 3 then?
Scrote: Eh?
Flying Copper: BOOM!

He might overshoot a bit in a jet fighter. It is remarkably difficult to fly a fast plane slowly. An attack helicopter would be better!

Re: Police Commissioner Voting
Despite having no funding from his political party, the Labour man is our new PCC.
Not surprised as the two big conurbations (Luton and Bedford) are Labour wards anyway.
I didn't vote in the end, mainly because the two candidates that did provide us with info both told porkies...
1. Mr Conservative with the turban who claimed to be a Councillor in Bedford, forgot to mention that he hasn't held the post since 2009.!!!
Oh yes..No.3...PersonallY, I would rather eat my own shit, than vote Labour!
2. Mr racist British Freedom Party man, has been arrested ( and is yet to be cleared) of Public Order offences, following an EDL march!!!

Well we have the dude with the wig. Pretty unsurprising really, he being the only one with a vague knowledge of coppering (memebr of the Police Authority no less) and the joy of helicopter and fighter jet fuzz.
Also Thames Valley, having a fairly well off proportion of the population, were not going to vote hippy or Labour, which eliminated two of the worse candidates anyway.

I'm expecting Thames Valley police to be like the Miami PD in Bad Boys with shotguns hanging out of choppers as they sweep over the countryside!
