Are they doing East vs West again this year?
The skills competition is fun, but that non contact little girl stuff they play in the all star game is a waste of everyones time

Re: Why the ASG voting is crap
Anything that goes into fan voting is BS. We all know the allstars of this league as much as i hate them the likes of Ovie,Crosby should be in the ASG(Ok Sid is out). I still dont like Thomas as goalie if that is East vs West but thats personal opinion , Michalek and Karlsson i can cope with but the others LOL.

It's the same as last year, the fantasy draft thing.

Re: Why the ASG voting is crap
Is it not a bit suspect that Kessel was in all the way and then in the last 24 hours Michelle picks up over a bazillion votes to just overtake him. The same thing almost happened with Gonchar and Phaneuf.
ASG fan vote is pointless... See Canadiens a few years back. Just let players, coaches, GMs, select journalists and Buff vote and then the game might gain a little respect. Also each team must include one player with a least a fighting major and they must fight with the winner gaining a bonus goal.

Yes, it is all bollox....but at the end of the day, it isn't going to change. The NHL have made an absolute fortune on the back of the amount of text charges.
The only way it will stop, is when the millions of yanks wake up and smell the coffee.. therefore, it's here to stay

Re: Why the ASG voting is crap
I like the skills comp. It's entertaining... the game is quite boring in itself but whatevs. I'd still pay to go see a game if I could. Anything to see more than one star at a time!
Although in this case it's more like the Sens vs other people.
Kessel derseves to be there... and I'm not being biased! Phaneuf? Ugh... lol
PS: 4-0 Canada with 2:25 to go... NICE NICE NICE.

Re: Why the ASG voting is crap
The home town team will always have the bulk of the top line - that way they guarantee the fans turning up. Hold the blasted thing in Columbus, and I will put vast sums of money on the fact that Nash, Carter and Wisneieswwkskski will be at the top og the voting. Heck, I'd vote for Clitsome and Sanford just for the hell of it!
But seriously Michalek? His 26 points and -6 over the likes of the Sedins, Toews, Giroux? I agree mostly with Buff - only the coaches, GMs, owners and media should vote. Not the Buff bit, or the fighting bit (goodbye Colton ) but just pick the top 2 players from each position as the two starting lineups, or the best from the east vs the best of the west
East - Vanek - Stamkos- Giroux
West - Sedin - Sedin - Hossa
surely thats a better line up than the ottawa top line?

Re: Why the ASG voting is crap
the ottowa top line have been average for several years now, no way near the best in the NHL. But this type of crap has happened before and is never surprising..... KOMISAREK, FRICKING KOMISAREK was chosen to play in the ASG game while he was playing for and it being held in Montreal.
What I thought was interesting was the goalie rankings...... apparently reimer warrants a place ahead of Rinne, Miller, Fleury, Elliot, and Kari Lehtonen (who I think should be given a place) even though he was injured for the back end of 2011.........

Re: Why the ASG voting is crap
Leafy, why should I not be allowed to vote? It was my idea, I'm a genius. My enforcer comment was in jest, though it might liven the game up a bit!

Buff - your a Leaf ergo your reasoning must be a little flawed. You'd probably have picked Reimer....

Re: Why the ASG voting is crap
The remaining players have been picked (by a reputable source this time!) thusly:
What? No more Sens?
Not overly bad, much better than the top six, and the likes of Perry are going on last years performance, and Price because everyone else in Montreal is dreadfully woeful. And little surprised that there no Kopitar and no Pat Sharp, and was really hoping Kulikov was going to make it, but that was more hope than anything.
