NHL 13 thread Empty NHL 13 thread

Post by CFCNick Wed Nov 07, 2012 12:19 am

Hey guys, I've got a quick question for anyone playing NHL 13. Do you use any sliders? Or do you prefer the games default settings?

I've been playing around with a few variations. I either get a really good end to end game with lots of shots on goal but can't score (even tap ins from passes accross the crease) and then I'll tweak the shooting sliders and it messes the whole thing up and I win too easily. So frustrating.

I consistenly went to work on the sliders from 09 to 12. For my liking I felt the series has always played far too cleanly with perfect passing and control and ridiculously overpowerful hitting on the defaults. Hockey is such a scrappy game for the most part and I liked to have a bit more of this - and it was nice to have the control to do so. I used to gradually hone the settings over months to get a well balanced game.

But anyway, thankfully Pro Evo is back with a vengeance! So I've hung up my virtual skates...

I've got the sliders perfect now I reckon. If anyone fancies trying them out I'll post them up on here at some point in the afternoon, if I can stay awake after watching the election results.

The thing is with the sliders are that they need to be adjusted according to the skill of the player. Settings that play a good game for one player won't work for someone else.

Is anyone else finding Be a Pro mode has a habit of randomly simming an entire week with out you asking it too? It doesn't even let you stop it.

I just played an entire season in the juniors and got drafted by the Kings. I played the first pre season game and it decided to sim the remaining games. Not surprisingly i was sent back to the juniors.

Could you have been scratched by any chance? Not likely I know but I haven't seen that yet. Mind you my BAP I just jumped to the draft rather than doing a full junior season.

No, after each pre season game you get an update from the GM saying how likely you are to stay up. After the second game i was told i was guarenteed to stay up and then i got sent to the juniors anyway.

I have just simmed through the junior season, im not playing through it all again. I played my first pre season game last night and did ok. Ill see what happens when i play tonight.

I did try and request a trade but they said i didnt have any value despite being a 1st overall pick...

Anyway the game is clearly broken as the Leafs won the cup in my second season Shocked

I got drafted by the Sens 1st overall also (likewise have no value!) and every time we play the Leafs we get destroyed Shocked so far our record is something like 4-7-2 Sad but I am doing my part leading the team in goals and assists and PIM Very Happy I think I have something like 6 goals and 7 assists in those games.

What type of player are you playing as? Im a RW power froward, hoping to get traded to the Flames to be the next Iginla Smile.

I have led the juniors in goals and points and hits in both seasons and in 5 pre season games with the kings have scored five goals, one in each game (no other player has ever socred)

Im rated 76 overall now and my speed, acceleration, hitting, and snap shot are all rated at 90. Im way too fast to play in the juniors, its far to easy to get past the defence onto a breakaway.

I just hope i don't get sent down again, The Kings only had 3 RW on thier roster last season and i still got sent down Sad

Ouch! I haven't been sent down yet. I was put on the top line but after 4 games I had 0 goals and 4 assists so they put me on 2nd line. I have been throwing up the points there!

I am also a power forward but on the LW Smile I am only rated 71 but acceleration hitting and wrist shot stats are in the high 80's. Have enough speed to get past most defenders but have real difficulty taking hits Shocked seem to get knocked off by almost anyone and if Chara is on the ice....no chance!

Yeah, im always getting flattened by defenders when i try and skate into the slot. Its still the area where is score most of my goals, so its worth it.

I should have picked LW too. It takes ages to change lines with the RW who everyone decides to pass to as im waiting to come on!

The scond one was a nice goal!

If i get sent down again tonight i might just start again from the draft. You seem confident enough to pass to your team without them turning the puck over. That doesn't happen in the juniors. My next game is agains Dallas, so it should be easy Razz

Yeah that is why I never got into BAP before because linemates were useless but now, (NHL level anyway) they seem to at least be capable of scoring. A lot of my early assists came from just blasting it low off the goalies pads with them picking up rebounds.

Funny you say that about Dallas.....my first goal and team win came against them Embarassed

So, what I see there is...

1..A hopeful dink to the back stick, praying that someone good is their to get on the end of it

2..A complete horlicks of a shot, which luckily goes to a quality player who puts the puck where you should have.
