Beefs bring in some new blood for season 5 Empty Beefs bring in some new blood for season 5

The Beefs looked to address a few needs following their first round defeat to the Bearded Badgers. After a 2 year run without playoffs the Beefs had high hopes of repeating the upset of the top seeded Badgers that they managed in season 1 but it wasn't to be and their post season run was over before it really began. The biggest problem was production from the top lines as leading scorer was the recently retired Alex Kovalev who played most of his time on the third line.

The Beefs top 6 will mostly look the same however chances are the star of the farm team for the last 2 seasons will make his pro team debut. Also expected to make the transition to the big league is rookie defender David Rundblad however the team is making no commitments just yet so he will have to earn his spot in preseason. One of the reasons for this was the off season signing of Mike Lundin to add to the depth of the D.

Other roster moves expected are Toby Petersen who has spent the majority of his time in the organisation playing for the Baby Beefs expecting to take Keith Aucoins spot on the 4th. To go alongside Toby the team is having an open audition for the RW spot with Gilbert Brule expected to fight it out with newly acquired young guns Mike Roesoft and Petr Straka.

The goalie position is also completely up for grabs with the team hoping that Carey Price can finally snag a spot with the big team after failing to grab it in the past couple of seasons. The only certainty will be Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers guaranteed a spot with the big team for obvious reasons.

The Baby Beefs will hope to return for another shot at the post season after failing to live up to expectations for 2 seasons running. The task will be even tougher with the departure of Oscar Moller to the pro team so the weight of expectation will fall on the shoulders of Skinner, Hopkins, Cupp and Benn. There have been a number of new signings and draftees to help but those guys will be expected to carry the load.
