Re: Conference Finals
Anyone who believed Vancouver was going to do anything this post season is either a liar or a Canucks fan. When you play the Wild, Avs , Oilers and for the most part the Flames 6 times a year id expect you to get more points through a season than teams who play Pittsburgh , Philly , NJ , or in the Blues case Detroit , Chicago , Nashville. Vancouver won the Presidents because of their division.

Re: Conference Finals
I don't think there is anything wrong in a fan believing in his team. So Marc believing in his Rangers is fine. I just think he has a skewed view on who is the "best". Each to their own I guess but as rocker said. Once you are in you are in. If the Rangers think they can slow down Brown and co and figure out Quick then good luck to them. I am sure the Sedins, Kesler, Burrows, Raymond, Hamhuis, Bieska, Schnieder, Perron, Backes, Oshie, Stewart, Arnott, Lagenbrunner, Pietrangelo, Shattenkirk, Elliott, Doan, Whitney, Vermette, Vrbata, Langkow, Yandle, Ekman-Karsson and Smith will be on the phone to the Rangers to see where they went wrong.

Re: Conference Finals
I agree the Rangers are the best team in the playoffs on regular season play and maybe on paper but the way the Kings have been playing I wouldn't put it past them to sweep their way to the cup at this point.
In any case, a little humility would go a long way
Edit: Unless you are talking Jopterball in which case boast away

Re: Conference Finals
The fact they beat the Blues scares me , but the Rangers are the second best shut down team in the regular season playing in the most high scoring division. Im not saying the Rangers will win the cup or even make the finals im just saying based on nearly 100 games of hockey this year , the Rangers are the best team in the NHL. The kings by far and away are playing the best hockey at the minute but what happens if the Eastern team takes them past 5 games and they dont know how to play a game 7?

Re: Conference Finals
They have been playing elimination hockey for the better part of 2 months. I think they will handle that pressure just fine.
Re: Conference Finals
I know where the teams in the West went wrong!
The way to deal with Quick, is obvious......Exploding puck's....especially the ones made by ACME, and promoted by Wylie Coyote.
Guaranteed not to fail

Because game 7 in the Stanley Cup Final is the same as game 79 vs San Jose?

If loosing game 79 against San Jose means you won't make the playoffs then yes.
The rangers have also not played a game seven in the cup final...

Re: Conference Finals
The Rangers have played 3 games of elimination hockey this year in the playoffs. Nothing prepares a young team for a game 7 in the playoffs. The funny thing is , i actually think the Kings will win the cup. J Iggy , is the perfect example of what i mean about Ranger hatred , he has basically all playoffs long discounted the Rangers predicting them to lose both the series they have won as well as this one.

Re: Conference Finals
Thing is, you say you think the Kings will win but then lay out a load of reasons why the Rangers wont lose?
Re: Conference Finals
Also, the game 7 assumption is based on a team getting the Kings to that many games....something that hasn't even been close to happening yet.
Re: Conference Finals
I predicted a Sens win because they are my second team. They also had a winning record against the Rangers in the regular season.
I predicted the Caps as they had the momentum of beating the defending champs. If one OT had gone the other way... This series was really close and either team could have won it.
I actually really don't like the Devils. But again, they had more momentum coming out of the Flyers series and were fresher having played less games. They may well go on to win this series.
If the Kings and Rangers make the final, it will be a close series. It would be stupid to predict that one team is massively superior to the other (which is what you are doing) I also agree that the longer the series goes, the more likely the Rangers would be to win it.
It's not your assessment of your team that irritates, its your lack of respect for the skill of the opposition. If we look at your predictions you have the Rangers winning every series effortlessly. This hasn't happened. The kings meanwhile are 11-1 in the playoffs. Its just plain logic that the Kings are playing great at the moment and have a good chance at winning the cup.
None of this means i hate the Rangers.

Re: Conference Finals
The Rangers won't win because they won't get past NJ. The reasons im saying is because the Rangers/Devils are getting no respect because the Kings have swept teams.
If it is the Rangers and Kings in the final there is no way it will be done in 4 or even 5 games.
The only prediction that i have genuinely meant is the NJ one as i believe its the easiest series the Rangers have played but after two games its looking less likely that will be the case so yes im wrong. I cant be assed even talking about this anymore.

The Rangs won't win because they out and out suck.
End of arguement.

Re: Conference Finals
I don't know why the NHL are even having play-offs. It's clear that the Rangers are the best and biggest club in the galaxy..sorry...universe so why not simply hand them the trophy.
PS Any remember when Azzy used to bang on about the Nucks being the best team in the NHL and the play-offs were irrelevant?

I think the only way to settle this is with a fight, fight, fight...
Ok, Marc - you take the Rangers guy and we'll have Hartnell...

Whilst the likes of the Nucks, Blues and Rangers were 'seeing out' the end of the season, the Kings were already playing play-off hockey - just to reach them. They didn't have to try to raise their game again.
Now, having trashed the Nucks, Blues and seemingly the Yotes, they have the all important belief. They had nothing to lose and now they believe that they can't lose.
Just as Luton will prove on Sunday
Bang goes my big LA bet then. Thanks Driz

Re: Conference Finals
So by the time the Rangers/Devils series is decided, the Kings will have had eight days rest. I'm never sure that this is always a good thing. Yeah, it gives any niggling injuries a chance to heal, but it must play havoc with the momentum they had going.

Re: Conference Finals
They have had pretty long breaks ever round though since no series has ever gone longer than 5 games!
