It was close until we decided to stop playing for the final 3-4 games...

I liked DGB's tweet last night. "Let's swap the Blues' Brian Elliot for the real Brian Elliot and see if anyone notices".
the West is crazy this year.

He seems a different player without Halak there to back him up.

Halak missed the last couple of games against the Sharks, so I don't think its that. I think it's more to do with what was in front of him. Pietrangelo was missing last night. He left the first game during the 2nd period having been the victim of a nasty boarding incident, he was a big miss . Jackman was also back to his 'turnover' best, whch doen't help.
Hitch had also messed around with the forward lines and by the time everybody had settled in, we were 4 down.

Can't quite get out of the habit of supporting a rank outsider, even after the end of the regular season!!!!

The way these playoffs are going, I think it would still be impossible to call them even five or six games in.

Lazarus has refused to come out of retirement. He says a Blues comeback is too much, even for him to achieve!
LA Kings = Finger Licking Good

The Kings are pretty streaky though. They're just as likely to get pasted in the conference final. At least that's what this Duck fan is hoping...

Looks like LA are now favourites to win the West. East is still wide open with no one team performing any better than the rest.

I just hope the eastern final doesnt end up being NJ vs NYR.
Whatever happened to the whole not needing a top goalie to win the cup craze? you would have to say Bryz is the weakest (on current form) of the remaining goalies and even he is a top goalie if he gets it together.

Holtby played well against the Flyers last time we played them. Not surprised to see him doing ok.

Re: 2012 Stanley Cup Conference Sem-eye Final Predictions
Ah, I see what you mean. I thought you were saying only 'elite' goaltenders (in reputation) were left still playing in the play-offs.
Well I don't know how any team is going to lift a cup without their goalie(s) being on absolute top form!

Cup winning goalies since the lockout:
2006 - Cam Ward - .920
2007 - Jean-Sebastien Giguere .922
2008 - Chris Osgood - .930
2009 - Marc-Andre Fleury - .933
2010 - Antti Niemi - .910
2011 - Tim Thomas - .940
With the exception of Niemi, the standard appears to be getting higher every year.
