Selke nominees - a tough decision
So who do you pick from Backes, Bergeron and Datsyuk?
No prizes for guessing who I would pick, but who would you choose?

This is so obvious.......ly difficult. I want to pick Datsyuk because he is my favourite player. But I can't deny that Bergeron deserves it. Then there is David Backes, my top trade target for the off-season. Still it is the Pavel Datselyk trophy for a reason

It has to be Bergeron, he has the points lead on Backes the +/- lead on everyone (for what its worth) he is clutch in face-offs and an integral member of a cup winning team. Toews was his main competition but his injury ended that.

It is close but I would give it to Datsyuk....as much as I hate to say it.

I'm obviously backing Captain America. It has to go to the #42. Rookie season as Blues Captain....and has led by example.
A player that every other team would kill to have on their roster.

Although I hate to say it, Datsyuk has been hit and miss this season. Injuries and slow recovery has limited his effectiveness.
Personally, I'd be backing Backes. He's played out of his skin this season and has already surpassed everyones expectations in the playoffs.

Damnit I did write a post detailing why I chose Datsyuk..... but it didn't post and is not lost to the world
Short version, Datsyuk is still the takeaway king (not burger king) although Backes has an insane amount of hits compared to the other two. Datsyuk by a nose

I've just had exactly the same happen....something about server busy and therefore my post disappeared into the ether.
Needless to say, in short, whilst Datsyuk was spending part of the season POWDERING his nose, Backes played 1 second short of a period, EVERY game of the season.
His alround stats are better. He didn't have a Zetterbeard of a Lidstrom to take some of the pressure off. Backes had to do the job pulling a bus load of kids as he went.
I see your Datsyuk, raise him a Backes.....Game over, all your chips are mine

Haha well I wouldn't be annoyed to see Backes take it. I like him and would sooner see a Blue win than a Wing any day

Unfortunatly he only comes second to Kyle (who is also the burger king)

David Backes is apparently 'not too unhappy' at being a runner up....He didn't think the trophy would look right on his mantlepiece
Good night overall for The Blues. Congrats to The Hitch, Army and The Ness bros...Elliott and Halak
