Flames and Canadiens trade Empty Flames and Canadiens trade

To Calgary: Mike Cammalleri, the rights to Karri Ramo and a 5th round pick (2012)

To Canadiens: Rene Bourque, the rights to Patrick Holland and a 2nd round pick (2013)

Wow.

I loved Cammy when he was at the Flames before, and he and Iginla had great chemistry. He sounds excited to be coming back.

It's not often you get to say this - but it's a good deal for both teams.

Calamari had one incredible year with the Flames, and if he can rediscover the chemistry he had with Iginla (who was their centre?), then the Flames become a much better team.

And the Habs get a hard-nosed 25-goal scorer who's more physical than their entire forward line, has a better cap hit, and is one of those Frenchies that Habs fans love.

Finally a good move by the Flames Razz

Bourque has started to develop a habit of getting Shanabaned, and hasn't played to his potential this season. I have always liked him as a player, and when he wants to be he can be the best player on the ice.

Cammy was great for the flames and wanted to play for us. The original Jokinen trade forced him out because of the cap situation. It will be interesting to see who he plays with, as Jokinen and Iggy are playing well together. I think he could do well with Tanguay.

Good move especially if this invigorates Cammalleri. Didn't take the Habs long to ship him out eh?!

Apparently they put him in a cab and sent him back to the hotel to await further instructions. Hope he went through the entire contents of the minibar and ordered a load of stuff from room service.

Good trade though.

And Leafs v Wings for the 2013 Winter Classic allegedly.

Yeah apparently the NHL have been in 'advanced' discussions with one of the college football fields there but I forget the name of it. Can house 110,000 people apparently so the talk is they are aiming for largest attendance yet.

That would be Michigan Stadium.

Michigan State played Michigan in a College hocked game there a few years ago, and had an attendance of well over 100k, beating the previous record for a hockey game by about 25,000 or something.

Apparently, Montreals daily newspaper had a picture of Camalleri, above which read the headline ' One Less Loser'.

They obviously loved him!!!! Very Happy

Presumably now he's moved to the Flames he is going to become a winner, whereas those who remain in France, sorry, Montreal will keep losing....

Ah they joys of interpretation.

Except Bourque is from Alberta and doesn't speak French. Sacré bleu. Laughing
