Re: Most enjoyed USA food
I grew up in Wetherby, and regularly visited the Wetherby Whaler often hailed as the greatest Fish and Chip shop on the planet.
I'm never really fussed as I'm allergic to fish and most chips taste the same.

One of my favourite chippies. Used to work in Scarcroft and me and the other lasses in the office had a monthly meeting in the Wetherby Whaler. Happy days

The way to get round the weight issue is to wear all of your clothes and reserve luggage space exclusively for food!

Indeed, especially if you are flying on an American airline, as they have to have a set of 19ft wide seats to cater for the 'Florida ass'.

Re: Most enjoyed USA food
Well I managed to smuggle all my chocolate into the US and there is now
3 x whispas
3 x crunchies
1 x packet of rolos (update: they've been eaten)
4 x bumper bags of chocolate buttons
6 x bars of Old Jamaica chocolate
in the fridge. The two Aero easter eggs didn't make it out of the UK.
Looks like I'll be needing that 19ft wide seat next time I fly. Oink!

Re: Most enjoyed USA food
I tried a Babe Ruth bar the other day and discovered that the Americans can actually produce a good chocolate bar. I think eating Hershey had scarred me.
And I also discovered this weekend that there isn't any arcane secret to making American pancakes. It's just British pancake batter with baking powder. I don't think I'll be making the British ones ever again....

Scottish pancakes are made with baking powder, too.

Are they what you call "drop-scones"? Yeah, I think they're basically the same?

Re: Most enjoyed USA food
It's funny because I've eaten so many supermarket bought Scotch-pancakes over the years (the closest thing you can buy to an American one) that I'd kinda forgotten that they were actually Scottish. I should have said I'd never make the English one again rather than a British one.
It's good to know that these awesome pancakes originate so close to home...
