Victory soldier on despite league prohibiting shot saving

A third successive defeat for the Victory last night leaves them enduring their worst slide of the season so far. The team has conceded 17 goals over the stretch and lost starting goaltender llya Bryzgalov to a game misconduct for saving Derick Brassard’s shot without a rebound. Until the current slide the Victory had one of tightest defences in the entire league.

The same could be said for the high scoring offence with centre Toews and wing Sedin leading their respective positions in points for the majority of the season. Toews had led the league for goals for most of the season and still has a commanding lead in game winners. Both, along with other star performers Vinny Lecavalier, Jason Williams, Dennis Widmean and Andy Greene have hit a rut recently.

Role players such as TJ Oshie, Antoine Vermette, the Kostitsyns and Jack Johnson have been some of the most consistent in the team this year and provided the depth the team were looking for this season whilst all three pivots have excelled on the dot, regularly appearing in the top 10.

Both special teams had abysmal starts to the season placing no higher than 19th overall in the league in either category. Both units have improved in recent games despite results in general dropping.

Coach Byslama and GM Buff were reportedly happy with the 12-4-1 start the team had made to the season and are monitoring the situation closely as the losses now begin to stack up [7].
