Avery to go on re-entry waivers
But honestly Nobody really cares about that (except maybe Beef).
The real story is those glasses! Does he think of himself as a brown-haired Joe 90?

He does look a bit of a tit doesn't he?
I'm praying that Chiarelli and Claude don't suddenly decide that maybe Avery is just what they need to kick-start the Bruins season.

Re: Avery to go on re-entry waivers
Deep enough for my 5k race to be cancelled yesterday . Now just need more snow in two weeks so my half marathon is also called off
But we got off quite lightly compared with a lot of people. We didn't lose power and only had minimum damage from falling tree branches. Winter in New England - love it.
Although part way through the third period of the Bruins game, I was beginning to hope the electric would go off and put me out of my misery.

At 25% of that cap hit, with the scoring and bolshiness he provides, I'd LOVE him on my Nucks. But one can only dream I guess

I don't care about this any more, it won't affect us in cap hit because lets face it.....we are never getting to the upper level

Just curious, why 25%? Unless I am mistaken, if the Canucks claimed him then they would take on the Stars 50% with the Rangers being on the hook for the other half. I am sure I read somewhere that waiver claims were only ever split between 2 teams not 3.
Re: Avery to go on re-entry waivers
According to both capgeek and bob mckenzie, the hit is split three ways - 50%, 25% and 25%. can't remember whether it's you or the Rags with the 50%, but the claimants only pay 25%. Or so I've read!

Re: Avery to go on re-entry waivers
Fair enough. I read about it a long time ago so it probably has had some clarification since because it isn't clear in the CBA as to if the new claiming club pay half of the half of half of the full.
I agree at 25% there may be a chance he is claimed but not sure anyone is willing to take any chances with him anymore.

Re: Avery to go on re-entry waivers
Oh and going on from what you read it would split 50% Dallas, 25% Rangers, 25% new claimant. Wording in the CBA is confusing because it says 50% of the remaining salary but doesn't specify if that means 50% of the players full salary or 50% of the waiving teams part of the salary.

Section 50.9 page 223
To the extent the Player does require Waivers to be Loaned
to a minor league affiliate, he cannot be Loaned or recalled without
first clearing regular Waivers, and then cannot be Recalled to the
NHL parent Club during the same League Year without also
clearing a new Re-Entry Waiver procedure, pursuant to which the
Player can be claimed by another NHL Club for fifty (50) percent
of the contract's remaining amounts to be paid, with the balance to
be paid by and charged to the waiving NHL Club (both amounts to
be counted against each Club's Upper Limit, Actual Club Salary
and Averaged Club Salary, and counted against the Players'
Share)
http://www.capgeek.com/faq/what-are-reentry-waivers.php
If a player subject to recall waivers is assigned to the minors by Team A and claimed on recall by Team B, then both A and B split the salary and cap hit. If B then waives the player for assignment but Team C claims the player, then both A and C split the salary and cap hit. If B successfully waives the player and assigns him to the minors (A and B split his salary, but he carries no cap hit unless he has a 35-plus contract) and then B recalls the player and he's claimed by Team C, then his cap hit counts as follows: C, 25 percent; B, 25 percent; A, 50 percent. The NHL confirmed the details of this breakdown to Yahoo! Sports in October 2011.

In the NHL? No. Someone will pick him up on the cheap. Probably Philly. Urgh.

If the Bruins have one more injury, I can see Claude fishing Avery's boots out of the Hudson and giving him a job
