Second Team?

At the start of every season i like to pick a team from the East to follow. Otherwise i find myself just watching Western confrence hockey (Because it's better )

I went with the Thrashers last year, and it's going to be hard to ignore the Jets this year. Im also tempted by the Islanders.

Do any of you guys do something similar?

Kind of. I've been a follower of the Islanders since before they drafted Tavares (in the anticipation of Tavares being drafted by them). As the Canucks are a competitive team, it's fun to watch the Isles becoming one slowly over the last 2 seasons. Long way to go of course!

I'll be taking a closer interest in the Blackhawks this season. A lad I worked with has recently moved to Chicago which means he'll be seeing more of them than the B's and no doubt will be emailing me with all the info on Toews and co.

I keep tabs on the Lightning, simply because I'm intrigued by Yzerman's GM role. However I wouldn't exactly say they were my second team.

I don't really have a 2nd team but yeah...I have a soft spot for the Isles. I suppose we all must feel a little sorry for them...

Also the Leafs are a team I like to follow for obvious reasons

I like to keep tabs on all the Canadian teams - obviously excepting the 'Orrible 'Abs. I always liked the Canucks due to a) the link up with the MK Kings, and b) using Bure and Linden in NHL 92 and destroying anyone who dared oppose me. And Calgary for Theo Fleury, Gary Roberts and Joe Neuiwendyk.

the Nashville predators have been my second team, ever since the days of the Gaylord entertainment centre and not the bridgestone arena.

The first NHL game i went to was Tampa vs Toronto a couple of years ago, I was trying to blend in with the leaf fans so i bought a leafs T-shirt before the game. The leafs were winning 3-2 with about two minutes left in the 3rd, and as it was my first game i wanted it to go to OT. Anyway Tampa score, i get excited and jump out of my seat chearing a Tampa goal while wearing a leafs shirt and secretly being a Flame...

I dont really have a second team but I must admit I am interested in keeping an eye on the Jets this season. It's also one of the few other teams shirts I would consider wearing - I really like the new design.

Tbh I kinda have a soft spot in some way or another for most teams in the league. It is much easier to list teams I don't like!

I can't ever like the Bolts. They broke my 16 year old heart in 04.

Poor Monty I was especially cheering them that year because I hated the Flames after one of them injured Zubov in 2003 with a filthy knee on knee hit....so yeah I was hoping they lost

And the Leafs are the club that make me think "ahh, bless..."

On this train of thought....I would like to add I have a particular fondness of the Blues generosity last season. 4 times going into the third period with the lead only to let the Stars take a regular season sweep
