forgive me if these sound like a silly questions, but this is the first time since i have been watching ice hockey, like an event of this kind is happening.

so could the more knowledgeable explain what will happen to the south-east division and the Eastern Conference now one of its teams is possibly on the move? Also what will happen to vancouver's AHL affiliate the manitoba moose...........

The divisions will possibly be re-aligned.

I found a good article on it earlier, but I can't remember where it was from.

Affiliates change all the time, but I have seen something saying the Moose will move to Thunder Bay.

According to tsn, today is the day. True North, the group trying to buy the Atlanta Thrashers have called a press conference for 12et. They are expected to announce the return of the nhl to Winnipeg.

Fingers crossed to the realignment of divisions that sees Stars to the Central!

Most things I have read say Detroit to the east, personally I would move Nashville to the south east and Dallas or Minnesota to the central

I actually hope that the realignment will put Detroit in the East.

That way, I might get to see more live games, rather than staying up till God knows when to see us away at Vancouver, LA and San Jose et al on a regular basis.

Nashville, Colombus and Detroit are the teams touted as possible realigned to the East.

How about Detroit playing Toronto or Montreal more often? Those kind of games would really be packed out every game, just like Toronto v Montreal games.

I say move the Wings east, and stick Buffalo across into Atlantic, Detroit in the North with Ottawa, Montreal, Boston and Toronto. Then Pittsburgh can join the Southeast in Atlanta's place, meaning the Penguins might have a few road miles for a change, since they usually hardly travel anywhere!

I don't see the Wings being split from the Hawks, it's just not happening.

I had seen rumours of talk about putting Colorado in the Pacific, Winnipeg in the Northwest, Dallas in the Central and moving either Columbus or Nashville East side. Who knows what they will do really!

This map shows all the NHL teams, and the current East/West split. I can see why Columbus and Detroit want to switch to the East, since they're Western Conference teams, in an Eastern Time Zone, but think that Nashville should stay as they are, since it would seem ludicrous that a team much further West than both Columbus and Detroit, should then be classed as 'East'

Almost as crazy as a team closer to the Atlantic playing in the Pacific division! :O
