PLAY-OFFS BABY!!!
yes thats right, after missing the inagural 606 hockey play-offs last season, the Mcbuck Cherrypickers, the ones who finished 16th overall in pre-season have joined the elite of the elite after a close fought campaign which had many players as well as fans nervous!
Brian Gionta: 'luckily our early season run got us to where we are. The middle part of the season was tough and the lack of movement in the trading market showed that the GM believed in this group and was true to his word right from the very start'
GM: 'i can not take any credit for the effort the PLAYERS have put in this season, the changes we made in the power play put us where we needed, we always had the talent, that was evident last year. The experience of missing out last year pushed us on even further'
and boy did we need it, with four teams finishing on 99 points .... it was squeaky bum time for all concerned. 'Thats the way the system works' remarked coach Lindy Ruff, 'i would of been much happier if we where a couple of points ahead, challenging for the top-seed but we are happy with what we got, it would of been nice for the fans to see our rivals the Swanse Sharks involved'
Fans in the north have been used to see their teams fall at the first hurdle, hopefully this will not happen. The campaign has started brightly with a nail biting 3-2 victory of Fumblesauraus Rex, the thorn in the Cherrypickers side over the regular season.
Space must also be given for the effots of Glen Hanlon and the Mcbuck Cherrylabourers who also got into the play-offs of the farm team respectively, this will surely only help the Mcbuck franchise progress forward.
