Blues at it again
The Blues front office has obviously taken a leaf out of the Harry Redknapp book of trade deadline dealing. They spent most of the week stating that The Blues are not ' selling of buying', only to make two trades within 6hrs.
Erik Johnson and Jay McClement are on the move to Colorado along with either a 2011 conditional or a 2012 1st round pick. Both signed off in last nights 3-0 win over The Sabres. EJ had an assist, whilst McClement managed 4 penalty minutes. In return The Blues get power forward Chris Stewart, top young d-man Kevin Shattenkirk and either a conditional 2011 or a 2012 2nd.

Feck. Not looking forward to tonight's game. Ducks are desperately missing Hiller. McElhinney has been a decent back-up but he's no No. 1 and has really struggled over the last few games.

Hmmm I wouldn't be thrilled with the Blues recent trading activity. What are your thoughts Driz?

Surprising trade this. Would have expected them to hang on to their young skilled D men.

Surprised, and a little upset the Avs have lost Stewart. and Shattenkirk. Seems like we've been absolutely mugged by the Blues.

Shattenkirk and Beukeboom! I see a plan here! Are there any other players with quality names up for trade?

Ergh, 9-3! Horror show. Hard to lump all the blame on the goalies as the rest of the team are making lots of errors but without Hiller the Ducks are most certainly not a play-off team!
Funny the way hockey goes. One minute you're red hot and almost invincible and the next you've lost three quick games on the trot with a GAA of 15.68...

pmsl. I was exaggerating for effect! Actually it's only 7.00 over the last 3 games...

You have to forgive me, I was up until 6am watching the Stars pretend to be hockey players.

That's only because every single defensive pairing includes him...... or so it seems anyways lol
Re: Blues at it again
Buffon. Friday night I was a little miffed. After a nights sleep, I was still a little miffed. I can understand the reasoning for moving Brewer on. He's 31, on $4.2 a season, injury prone and soon due a new contract. I did though, expect us to get a more for him. A prospect and a 3rd for your captain, is not a huge amount. I wasn't expecting a Stamkos or a St.Louis, but Simon Gagne and a 3rd might have been more realistic.
Then I find we have traded Erik Johnson. My automatic thought was the front office has gone crazy. Brewer and Johnson, the corner pins of a our defence, gone within 12hrs. Then after 27 cups of coffee, reason dawned. We have Jackman, Colaiacovo and Polak who are decent seasoned d-man. Then we have the youth, Pietroangelo has come on a bundle this season and is beginning to show huge ability. Nikitin and Strachan have moved up from Peoria and are putting in good perfomances. Then we have Ian Cole, Mark Cundari, Jonas Junland and Anthony Peluso. All prospects waiting in thw wings.
This allowed us to trade out Johnson for a decent young forward. We have good forwards in Oshie, Perron and Backes, but the likes of Berglund and Boyes are playing well below expectations. Andy McDonald is also a$4.7m millstone around are necks. Chris Stewart will be an excellent fit as 2goals last night proved.
Overall, I think we have improved out team and have made a saving on the cap hit. All we need now is a real top name. That is for next season though. Hopefully these trades have freshened the roster up enough for us to make a late charge for the play-offs.
LETS GO BLUES!!!!
