WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS
The Beefs have won the inaugural 606HL Playoffs. GM Homer had this to say 'We are obviously ecstatic about this result. We began the season very hopeful but with results waning down the stretch we were very nervous heading in to the playoffs. Loosing games 1 and 2 to the Badgers didn't make my nerves any better but a change in strategy sent us on our way and we never looked back!'
when asked what they expect from next season GM Homer replied 'We would like to repeat obviously but we are still a bit sore that we led the regular season for so long yet ended up with the 4th playoff seed. I would like to see us add the regular season trophy to our cabinet but a successful defence of our playoff trophy will be our top priority.'
It appeared that some of the Beefs big names were not quite up to the job of carrying the team with Iginla struggling through most of the season putting him amidst many trade rumours due to his big salary. He put these rumours to bed however with a fantastic playoffs scoring 12 pts in 15 games to tie for 2nd on the team with line mates Heatley and Richards. 'The money line came good when it mattered' said Homer. 'The guys are fully aware they are paid huge amounts of money to perform and they picked it up when it really counted. We are excited about what this trio can do next year'.
Kiprusoff was also big subject of trades in mid season when his numbers struggled and the team briefly turned to Elliott for the lions share of starts. 'We were a little concerned with Kipper but ultimately had faith in his abilities and he repaid us by being near unbeatable in the playoffs'.
