It started with a shutout against, and ended with a shutout against. In between, we had some astonishing highs and some dismal lows. The Giraffes finished 8th in Conference, 14th overall. While this was better than expected in sme quarters, the Managementski is disappointed to to exiting before the playoffs.

The start of the season was frankly a disaster. A new team needs time to settle, but the goaltending never did, resulting in a huge disadvantage that even the most devastating line in 606HL history could not overcome. The goaltending tandem of Khabibulin and Hiller were soon shipped out, Khabby to the Devils for Tim Thomas and Hiller to the Mongooses for extra training. When Thomas came in he steadied the ship, and Greiss, an mid season acquisition soon showed glimpses of superstardom, and became the first choice starter towards the end of the season.

The defence was in a similar situation, and until the arrival of Hejda and settled lines, the defence suffered from underperformance. The D soon tightened however and with youngster like Schenn, Kulikov and Picard waiting in the wings, the future looks good.

The offensive talent available to the Giraffes is second to none. 'Jazzman' Jeff Carter finished as top goalscorer with 43, and Alex Semin was the only player to scare the 100 point barrier. While certain uninformed commentators claim the Girafffes are a one line team, both the second and third lines put up reasonable numbers, and the fourth line chipped in with valuable checking play.

The powerplay was a particular strength, with good scoring from the top PP line. However, with the penalty kill dead last, things must be tightened next season if we are to progress.

Captain Dion Phaneuf was interviewed on Woburn Golf Course, where the Giraffes are busy training instead of watching the playoffs. He is quoted as saying 'Toward the end of the season we were one of the most feared opponents in the league. The core is young, and hungry, and this puts us in good stead not only for next year, but for many years to come. Now piss off, this is a birdie shot and if i hit it 'The DJ' (Pat Sharp) owes me $100,'

GM Leafy was unavailable for comment as he had disappeared, presumably to a local watering hole. Press secretary Winona was also conspicuous in her absence.
