Brian Dinosaurs Season Review Empty Brian Dinosaurs Season Review

Post by J-Iggy Tue Nov 13, 2012 11:09 pm

Brian Dinosaurs had a season to remember. Scoring 349 goals on their way to 63 wins and 132 points, the Dinosaurs won their division and conference. They also finish the season with the best overall record in the league. Tonight's final game will determine which team the Dinosaurs will meet in the playoffs. Who ever it is, the Dinosaurs will be favourites to win.

Player Ratings:

Nino Niederreiter - Rating - 10/10
Nino had a superb season. He led the Dinosaurs in goals with 52. points with 110 and hits with 25. His +41 was 9th best in the league. He finished as the leagues highest scoring LW, the 7th highest in assist and 3rd highest goal scorer (including two short handed goals). Nino is more then ready to make the step up to the Pro's and could even find himself getting 1st line ice time next season.

Ryan Strome - Rating - 10/10
GM J-iggy traded for Storme back in his Flaming Duck days. It was no surprise that he made every attempt to ensure Strome moved to this team with him. At just 18 years old Strome was always expected to achieve great things, but he has surpassed all expectations this season. Starting on the 2nd line he continually out played 1st line centre Brayden Schenn and was rewarded with the top spot. He scored an impressive 108 points with 46 goals and 62 assists. His +62 was a league best, he finished as the second highest scoring C and 3rd highest rookie. 62 Assists was good for second overall in the league and his 46 goals goof enough for 8th. Ryan will almost certainly return to the Dinosaurs next season to continue his impressive development.

Nail Yakupov - Rating - 9.5/10
Nail started the season well, and maintained point per game pace for the first half of the season. After the trade deadline, Nail found his scoring touch and his goal totals rocketed. Finishing with 44 goals for 9th overall in the league and a +56 for 2nd overall. Nail's 97 points were 3rd highest amongst RW and good enough for 6th in rookie scoring. Nail has shown he could make an impact for the Steves, but the team may feel another your in the farm would be better for his development.

Bob Ring - Rating - 9.5-10
Ring has had a stand out year. 33 goals and 62 assists for 95 points. A solid +38, Ring finds himself 4th in scoring amongst RW's and 7th amongst rookie scoring. His 62 assists tied Ryan Strome for 2nd overall in the league. Ring is another who is ready to step up to the pros, but may find himself with the Dinosaurs for one more year.

Calvin De Haan - Rating - 9/10
De Haan recorded 67 points, good enough for 8th overall in the league. His scoring and solid defence saw him become the leader of the Dinosaurs defensive unit. De Haan will have a great shot at making the Pro's next year, but places are limited and competition is hot.

Eric Gudbranson - Rating - 9/10
Eric split his season between the Steves and the Dinosaurs. He played 48 games for the Dinosaurs and recorded 62 points which was 10th highest in the league. His shooting % was also impressive at 14.29%. Gudbranson looks favourite to make the step into a top four role next season. He will need to show he can produce the points in the big league if he wants that to happen.

Jeremy Williams - Rating 8/10
Williams was solid all season. Playing mostly on the 3rd line but often filling in for injuries he recorded 60 points with 25 goals. Williams experience is very important to this team and he sets a great example to the young forward he plays with. The Dinosaurs will be hoping for more of the same next season.

Nicolas Kerdiles - Rating 8.5/10
Kerdiles has often been the forgotten man on this team. Nail was the big 1st round draft pick, but Kerdiles was a 7th overall pick and he has shown why he was so highly touted. Starting on the 3rd line, his knack for creating goals was too hard to ignore and he was quickly moved up to the second line. Finishing the season with 59 point and a +22 is a healthy start to a promising career. Impressively Kerdiles only recorded 4 PIMS in 81 games. Kerdiles is set to resume 2nd line duties for the Dinosaurs next season.

Brayden Schenn - Rating 7.5/10
It has been a challenging year for Schenn. Several injuries early on saw him struggle for form and Ryan Strome took his spot on the top line. A short spell with the Steves saw him switch to the LW before returning to the Dinosaurs to play 2nd line LW. 58 points in 58 games is still a good return and includes an impressive 60.82% successes rate in the face off circle (5th highest in the league). Schenn finished the season strong and will be looking to prove himself in the playoffs. A solid performance may see him return to the Steves next season.

Ryan Parent - Rating 7.5/10
Another player the GM was desperate to bring with him from the Flaming Ducks. Ryan has been key in the development of the you D on this team. 43 points is a solid return and his duties as team captain have helped lead the team in their success.

Anton Stralman - Rating 7/10
Stralman has had a consistent season. Mostly playing in the bottom pairing he recorded 35 points.

Luca Sbisa - Rating 8/10
Sbisa started the season in the bottom pairing, but it was hard to ignore his great defensive play. Luca earned a spot in the top four and finished with 30 points and a +40 which was 10th best in the league.

Di Guiseppe - Rating 7/10
Another recent draft pick. Di Guiseppe mostly played on the 3rd line. 29 points as a good return for his first season, but his +45 (5th highest in the league) highlights his defensive upside, and he looks set to develop into a good two way player.

Kamil Kreps - Rating 7/10
After spending the 1st half of the season keeping the bench want for the Steves, Kreps found a home on the Dinosaurs 3rd line. 28 points in 58 games to go with a +20 looks good enough to ensure he has a spot on the team next season. His face off percentage of 65.93 was a league high.

Derick Pouliot - Rating 7/10
Pouliot had a good 1st season. 28 points and a +44 for 6th best in the league. Pouliot missed a big chunk of games in the middle of the season after J-Iggy about him, but returned to continue his solid play. Expect to see Pouliot playing for the Dinosaurs again next season.

Andy Pandy - Rating 6/10
Pandy spent his time floating around various lines. He was always reliable and chipped in with points. 24 points and a +27 is a respectable start to his career. He will be hoping to find a place on a regular line next season.

Peter Budaj - Rating 9/10
Budaj's job this season was to mentor Benjamin Conz and he has done a great job. Budaj recorded 32 wins and his goals against average of 2.12 was the best in the league. Budaj is expected to play alongside Varlamov for the Steves next season.

Benjamin Conz - Rating 9/10
Lead by Budaj, Conz has developed into a goalie capable of leading this team next season. He recorded 28 wins and his goals against average of 2.16 was second only to Budaj.

Henrik Lundqvist - Rating 5/10
Lundqvist is clearly being held down by his redicioulus $7m contract. He only started 3 games this season but recorded 3 wins and put up good numbers. He has proven to be a good role model for the younger goalies and will be vital if anyone gets injured.
