AHL Live packages soon available
I have emailed them to see if the packages are available internationally (nothing on there to say it isn't) but in any case they have announced prices for the streaming services for AHL live this season. Some are pretty costly, others maybe not too bad.
Full season, every game from every team: $349.99 ($399.99 after 19th Oct)
Full season, every game for one team: $149.99 ($199.99 after 19th Oct)
Full season, every away game for one team: $99.99 ($124.99 after 19th Oct)
10 games: $5.99 per game
5 games: $6.49 per game
1 game: $6.99
Might be tempted to try a game here and there but $149.99 might be a touch high for just one team and $349.99 is a lot....
Still I like that they give the option to buy on a game by game basis

Some other wise owl also said that the streaming options would be cheaper than the full download option.

ESPN America appear to be showing some AHL games including the allstar game and the Calder cup. I'll wait and see how much they show and purchase the odd game online to fill the void.

And two owls make a parliament...
As for the AHL - can't justify spending that when I don't have a particular allegiance to a team. Tbh, I've never followed the league despite it containing future Duck (ahem) superstars. Cold hockey turkey for me. Be good to go up to Belfast sometime but its just too far for it to be a regular thing.

We should do a forum tour of the EIHL

We discussed something along these lines and decided Nottingham would be best to start due to it's proximity to most people. Still, I'm off down to the Planet Ice to see the Lightning so

Why is Hull in the northern division when it is so near Sheffield, Nottingham and Coventry which are all in the southern division? Why don't Belfast and Hull switch divisions?

Too much for me, I think gamecentre was approx $150 for the whole season last year. Might watch the odd game but may have to revert to finding streams to watch them!

I always watch mine via streaming so will probably do the same for the AHL this season
As for your question Buff, this conference is more than geography. They have split it into 'north' and 'south' but really it is the 'best' from the 'rest'.
The northern division is full of the weaker teams, such as Hull. Along with Edinburgh, Dundee, Fife and Braehead (although braehead IMO are the strongest and arguably most competitive)
The southern is with the stronger, more established teams with the panthers, Sheffield, Belfast, Coventry and Cardiff.
The EIHL argued that it provides more local derbies for the teams in the conferences for the fans. Also it gives the newer teams in the north a chance to establish themselves and be competitive instead of getting whooped every week or so. They also argue that it will establish 'closer competition' in the conferences.

Ahh that old paradox... "we can only improve if we play the bad teams". I admit it does have a certain attraction.
