Interesting fact of Coventry No. 4 - Coventry is twinned with Dresden. I wonder why....

Apparently the centre of Dresden was rebuilt very sympathetically and faithfully restored to its pre-war appearance. I've never been but gather Coventry isn't the same...

But of course we're being negative. There's plenty of beautiful and historic towns and cities in Blighty - not to mention thousands of chocolate box pretty villages complete with duck pond and cricket pitch. I live in Ireland and although the countryside is nice the lack of heritage in its buildings and housing stock is noticable. So even if you live in Luton, Coventry or Hull you've only got to get in a car and travel a short distance to see something good...

Talking of lovely places...Warwick. Which leads me to something I had completely forgotten earlier

Re: Happy St George's Day
I had my curry. A Chicken Dhansak with keema pilau and a peshwari naan.
It.Was.Magnificent.
Even if the curry had been only average (which it wasn't! It was superb), I'd been promising myself a takeaway curry for weeks so I was going to enjoy it no matter what!
And the pub near me had all the St George cross flags out and there were people enjoying an early evening pint as I walked home from work.

I went to a BBQ with a Bulgarian (who thinks he is Russian), a Sri Lankan and an Iranian. We ended up discussing if Aladin was from Persia (which he obviously is), Israel or India whilst the token vegitarian was made to sit by a tree.
