Happy St George's Day
A very Happy St George's Day to all my fellow Englishmen/ladies.
May your day be filled with all things good and English (10 pints of Bombadier and a curry!!)
As Cecil Rhodes said 'Remember that you are an Englishman and have consequently won first prize in the lottery of life'

I would guess that would be like winning the Hunger Games lottery...

Re: Happy St George's Day
I shall be partaking in the most English of evenings...adapted to fit my lifestyle...
Since I don't drink due to religious choice, I'll probably have some nice fruit juice, most likely English apple.
Since I've been promising myself a curry for about 3 weeks, and tonight is my only opportunity to have one, I'll do that, but I'll make it a beef curry, and I'll ensure the cows came from somewhere like Wigan.
And I'll do both of these things after I've got home and gone for a run...

This is brilliant. The St George's day thread has turned into a English city bashing thread

Can I put you right there, Buff. Luton isn't a city....it has tried on more than one occasion to become one...yet failed miserably (thank God)

I'm lighter than I ever remember being! I've been trying to lose weight for about 3 months and I've dropped half a stone so far, so something is working!
And I live in Harrogate, and until recently lived in York. Both are beautiful, clean and a pleasure to live in. Not like Luton... However, the worst place I've ever been in England has to be Barrow-in-Furness.

One word - Hull. Between that and Luton for the UK's two most terrible crapholes. Make Mansfield look positively wonderful

Re: Happy St George's Day
Pompey isn't great either. It does have its naval history but because of that had the crap bombed out of it during the war. As a result the city has been left with a legacy of extremely ugly replacement concrete architecture. And being an island it's a very insular place. Rough as fuck really. Bascially a northern city somehow deposited on the beautiful south coast...
