Two line pass coming back to increase scoring?
Apparently that is what the GM's seem to think. Now correct me if I am wrong but wasn't this rule taken out to do the exact same thing?
Linky
Now I buy the player safety aspect to a certain extent but in terms of generating offence is bullcrap. So defenders smack the puck out and a forward at the opposing blueline tips it deep.....bring in the two line rule again and players will just have to skate further/make an extra pass before dumping it in. Dump and chase will never go away, teams play to win not to rack up tons of goals.
In any case the game is far more exciting without the two line pass rule (not to mention easier to understand for newbies!) than with it.

Putting the red line in is a bad move.

It sounds like something Bettman would do.

What Jonzee said.... this is dumb.
Want more goals? Ask Budweiser... they seem to have some good ideas

Can't find a link atm, but Steve Sullivan's goal against Dallas last week is a perfect example why there should not be a two line pass rule!

Re: Two line pass coming back to increase scoring?
So they decide to keep the Trapezoid but wanna bring back the red line...... ok then.
Hybrid icing I don't like the idea of really. I think with the recent addition of the Shanaban that players are approaching puck races differently. I don't have stats to back it up but in my opinion it seems there are fewer occurances where players are needlessly pushed/shoved as they go for a puck. Yes it still happens (Robidas/Perry springs to mind) but it has certainly been reduced.
Razor put some of his ideas for changes on his blog http://blog.dallasstars.com/
I don't agree with them all but the kicking motion and faceoff rules are surely a no brainer that would make life so much easier no?

Re: Two line pass coming back to increase scoring?
I kinda agree with a few things razor says...
trapezoidal zone get rid
kicking motion is good goal
penalised team should still ice the puck
I'm the opposite on the hand pass, I don't think it should be allowed anywhere on the ice

Opposite? He said he doesn't understand why you CAN do it in the defensive zone. That would suggest he doesn't want it no?
Re: Two line pass coming back to increase scoring?
Well he said only, which to me implied if it is allowed in the defensive zone then why not the offensive zone. Either way, whatever Razor's stance is on it, I don't like hand passes.
