Congrats to the Detroit Red Wings
On their rather incredible NHL record 21-game home winning streak. Quite ridiculous really! This is yet another fantastic Red Wings team, and I for one see them as favourites for the Cup.

Congrats to Detroit, they have always been a team i enjoy watching. Beating Dallas last night was also good news for the Flames, who were the last team to beat the Wings on home ice all the way back in November!
14 more home games remaining this season, how many more can they win?

Congrats to the Wings, an incredible acheivement. I have always secretly liked the Wings (first all Russian line!), and looking forward to seeing then stumble at San Jose, winning me £ 15

Re: Congrats to the Detroit Red Wings
It's been three months since anyone beat us at The Joe, which is quite amazing really.
Zetterberg and Babcock have both said they just take each game at a time and go out to beat the team infront of them every time they take to the ice. Nobody really thinks about the streak until after the game.
Seems to be working! Also, big props to MacDonald who was solid last night, and was only a few seconds off a shutout.

Yep congrats from me too. A fantastic achievement. Who needs Sid or Ovie when you've got the awesome Pavel Datsyuk.

They haven't beaten the Leafs in that streak so really it's not all that impressive is it

I'm just glad Todd Bertuzzi is having such a fine year. At his age, you'd think he'd have reverted to Trent Hunter-esque levels of production - but he's playing like he did in his West Coast Express days. Well done Bert.

Re: Congrats to the Detroit Red Wings
It was the Wings who stopped the Bruins perfect November and ten game winning streak with a shootout win at the Garden.
(Ten game winning streak? If only! At the moment I'd be happy with a two game winning streak).

The Leafs are so bad they make even the Flames look good

We beat the nucks just a few days ago too!
The Flames are on their own little unbeaten streak at the dome. Three games now Interestingly, just as we were the last team to be Detroit at the Joe, Detroit were the last team to beat the flames at the dome... Could be an interesting playoff matchup...

Re: Congrats to the Detroit Red Wings
Hey, credit to the Canucks. A win is a win, whether in regulation or in a shootout, it makes no difference.
We couldn't score on 3 shoutout attempts, and Burrows slotted his away with a great fake and then high backhand. Streaks end, and someone has to break it. Just so happens in this instance, it was the one team we DIDN'T want to pick up points!

[quote="rocknrollnobody"] it makes no difference.
It bloody well does when you pick up a point. That 'point' has kept you 4 in front of us. We now have to beat you in our last match up, and then win 2 more than you over the rest of the season
Credit where due though, It was an amazing run!

Re: Congrats to the Detroit Red Wings
I meant in terms of being beaten.
If we were beaten in regulation, the streak ends. If we're beaten in OT, the streak ends. If we're beaten in a SO, the streak ends.
If you're going to lose, then doing it in a SO is probably the least painful way, as you pick up a point, and you get every opportunity to snatch a win, but I doff my cap to both goalies last night, who were outstanding.

Re: Congrats to the Detroit Red Wings
I was looking at the result from a Blues perspective. The best result for us, was for you to lose in regulation. That extra point you earned has made our chance of winning the division a lot harder.
If we are to progress passed the first play-off round, then our best chance is to win the division. If we come runners up, we take 4th spot. Our opponents in the play-offs will then either be the Hawks or Preds. Our form this season against our divisional rivals, isn't good-
Preds 1-2-2
Wings 2-3-0
Hawks 1-2-0
..and before Mr Homer comes on here and jumps all over me. I don't think a game against the 7th or 8th place team, is a gimme. Yes, I am full aware of our shocking record against the Stars
I suppose I better face facts... we're screwed

Re: Congrats to the Detroit Red Wings
Are you going to make playoff hockey for the first time in a while? I'd certainly say so. Looking at your form this year, is anyone going to walk all over the Blues in a 7-game series? I'd say not.
Whatever happens DRIZ, it's been a successful season already.

Oi Driz........sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep
Last night's game was a fantastic advert for hockey. Kudos to the Wings for making EVERY game we play against them exciting. This is a rivalry based on great hockey and mutual respect. I love the Wings. I wish we could face off in the SCF, that would be the series to end all series!

Re: Congrats to the Detroit Red Wings
It has, Rocker. From where we were at the start of the season, to where we are now, is nothing short of a miracle. We don't really want it to end in glorious failure. We had that 3 seasons ago. We had a blinding second half of the season, reached the play-offs, then got swept by the Canucks.
Whilst I don't thing that anyone will walk over us in a 7 game series, you have seen the best and worst of us in regular season games. We are a bit naive. When we are on top, we don't put teams away. In play-off hockey, you can't afford to do that.
A well drilled Hawks/Preds outfit will take us in 6.
