Re: NHL 12 demo
So does the female be a pro player get to snog the player of her choice then?
Not had a gaming thingy since we gave away the PlayStation when we moved over here. But it's tempting. (though I bet I wouldn't get a look in, as Mr C would be playing Tomb Raider and spending all his time staring at Lara Croft's arse).

Re: NHL 12 demo
Ok, so I've had this game for a few days - anyone else had problems with it crashing? This is the third one in a row which seems to be vunerable to freezing and I wish the good folk of EA would spend a bit more time and care to sort it out! Yeah, yeah...you're going to say your X-box editions are fine...but the problem lies with the game and not my PS3!

Re: NHL 12 demo
Nope no problem with it crashing so far for me. Only problems I had was with activating the online pass but that was fixed pretty sharpish!
Re: NHL 12 demo
Ha-ha. Mine was ok but I haven't ventured out on-line yet! Anyway, I've only really played the BAP mode and there always seems to be something that stops me from ever playing much of it. It feels a bit sloppy and has frozen up on me twice already so I'll have to give it another miss this year. It's a shame because I really wanted to love it. Still I guess there are plenty of other options in the game to try! In all honesty though I don't think EA ever do a serious amount of testing with their games...

Re: NHL 12 demo
I'm not going to comment on the amount of testing they do outside of I don't think I have had any bugs certainly not in the last 3-4 years of the NHL games outside of connection problems to the online servers. That is something that seems to be an issue with each edition but never had problems with freezing.
Re: NHL 12 demo
Well we are playing on different platforms so I wonder if the X-box is less error prone? Still I'm surprised you've never had any problems...ever? Personally 09 was the most reliable edition and I don't think it ever crashed in-game. But since then...yeah they've all freezed on me occasionally. I don't expect videos games to be perfect but I've played enough of BAP already to know it's too buggy for me. Haven't you had any problems of not being able to sim to your next shift and you get stuck watching the CPU play against itself until the game comes to a natural stopping point? It happens every game and it happened in the demo too!

Re: NHL 12 demo
Not yet in either demo or full game although admittedly on the BAP side of things I have only played about 10 games.
Re: NHL 12 demo
And only bugs I ever remember having with regards to freezing and crashing in a hockey game was way back on NHL 2K6 but that game was terrible
Re: NHL 12 demo
Only a minor irritant in the previous versions really...but I've only owned NHL 12 since Tuesday so it's not an encouraging start. I have enough bad memories from owning a Commodore 64 and expect a little better these days!

Haha too right! Have you checked the EA forums? They are pretty good at replying and solving problems there.
Re: NHL 12 demo
Had a little look but of course it's still very early days. I did find one thread where the posters were describing the problem of not being able to sim but with the crashing I'm not sure anything can or will be done! C'est la vie.

Oh yeah found this... http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/7514850.page
I love the NHL series but I do get a bit of an impression of sloppiness from them.

Re: NHL 12 demo
Looks like it isn't just a PS3 thing then. I wonder if any of the others here have come across that. I feel sorry for you Ronnie, it really is an excellent game aside from that!
Re: NHL 12 demo
Ha, cheers, mate!
Like I say I'll have a go at the other modes because they may be fine. And I agree - it does seem like the best version I've played yet.
One problem I perceive comes from the time constraints on EA to bring a game out at the beginning of every single season without fail. Titles such as GTA and Gran Turismo are a long time in development and released when they're ready and not before. With the NHL series (and other sports titles) cash cow EA obviously don't feel they can afford their profit margins that luxury.

Have you tried switching it off and then on again?

Yes this is the answer! Have you been watching me work?

LOL! Nice one, Buff. However, unfortunately this is exactly what I've been forced to do!
If I won the lottery I'd headhunt the EA hockey development team and tell them that they're no longer locked into a yearly cycle of churning out faulty games and that they can take a few years to develop and refine a masterpiece of simulation hockey. I'm sure fans of the sport everywhere would thank me!

Re: NHL 12 demo
Ok, further update....and how infuriating is this - EA have produced a fantastic hockey game...only it doesn't work very well! I've now had a go on HUT and after only a few games it's frozen on me. And of course when you play this mode you're automatically handed a loss and have to play through the tournament again. Is it worth me playing any more? I don't think so EA. The game goes back in the box until they fix it! I honestly could not advise anyone to buy the game at this point in time!
