True dat. I'd even put Michal Handzus above Tim 'Peg Leg' Connolly...imagine if your team needed a centre - any centre - and went out and spent nearly $5m a season on a slightly-above average but more-injury-prone-than-Sami-Salo 'vet'. Madness from Burkie.

The guy has 250 points in 302 games post-lockout
He can play on both the PP and PK
Handles the puck very well which is promising for a partnership with Phil
Two year contract so if it does't work out no big loss
We have the cap space
This is a free upgrade

I am very excited by this- even if Connolly only puts up 60 points and about 45 of those would be assists for the top line half of which will likely be on the PP. Now that is a huge upgrade for the Leafs on albeit expensive but short-term low risk contract.

I don't get how people can not like this move by Burke.

seems like the leafs have a pretty solid blue-line for the next season, especially with the inclusion of franson ..... although i find myself saying that every post-season then im reminded that komisarek is still there.

the lombardi signing is a good move and tyler bozak has re-signed
