Scandal rocks the Jaw!
The 606HL world was rocked early this morning as the Giraffes were evicted from Canada, and the owners imprisoned on charges relating to organised crime.
A statement from the MJG organisation follows:
Reports have been circulating for a while now regarding our owners possible connections to the Russian Mafia. While we can not confirm or deny such claims, the Canadian authorities have, as a precautionary measure, kindly asked the Giraffes to leave Canada during the investigation, a request to which we have agreed.
Eminent Russian businessman, Kamar Takhitov, with his heiress wife Ivana, have bought out the Giraffe organisation, and will relocate the franchise to their European base in Milton Keynes. The newly moved franchise will play out of their old training facility, the newly upgraded 23800 seater arena Concrete Cow Gardens. All staff, both management and playing will move to MK, and the farm team will be relocated to Wavendon, a small village outside the main city.
While we are sad to be leaving Moose Jaw, our move to MK does bring many benefits. A larger arena, a bigger fanbase and of course, we're a lot closer to keep our beady little eye on the Watford Capitals and their Russian stealing ways.
We would like to take this time to point out that the Takhitov family have NO links to the Russian Mafia. None.
We will conduct a full press conference after the draft to answer any remaining questions. Thank you.
