Dream Trading

The down side of the trade deadline passing is the lack of rosterbations and eklund style rumours. As a Leaf fan I miss this and so tonight’s game got me thinking, Paul Stastny could do with a move to the Blue and White, and here is how it might happen…

Toronto receives:

Paul Stastny, Cameron Gaunce and a conditional 5th round pick

Colorado receives:

Clarke Mcarthur, Keith Aulie and a 2nd round pick

This is a very Burkie deal- player, prospect, pick.

It stacks up for Colorado:
- After a relatively uninspiring season by Stastny, Duchene is coming through to take his place
- Aulie is a beast and is already eating up big minutes for Toronto, he could add that bite which the frail Avs D core lacks, and the roster place is there if Foote goes
- McCarthur may not reproduce his form of this season ever again, but then there is no reason to believ he wont. Even if he doesn’t he is on a barganious contract (new word alert!) and would fit in well, Hedjuk who
- A second round pick is never to be sniffed at, especially when it is coming from perennial basement dwellers

And for Toronto:
- They finally receive the top line centre they crave
- Whilst no Aulie, Guance is definitely a good prospect
