Iginla finding his groove
Beefs news
There was a lot of talk around the Beefs camp about the captain. Some people felt a move may be needed as he was lagging behind line mates Richards and Heatley in points scoring only 4 points (1G 3A) in his first 11 games. Trade talk began to surface and Michaleks great play saw the two RW's swap positions in an attempt to wake up the captain who played a huge part in last seasons cup win.
This move has proved to be somewhat of a revelation with Iginla having scored a point at least in every single game since and sits with the longest current point streak. He has put up 6 goals and 7 assists in the last 10 games to dwarf his totals over the first 11 games and begin to climb the scoring ranks.
'We are very happy with the turn around Iggy has given us' said GM Homer. 'He has given us a real one two punch up front with Heater putting away 8 goals in the last 10 games on the top line we have a true threat on both lines.'
On that point, top line winger Dany Heatley is on pace for a huge 59 goals as it stands. If he can keep that pace up the Beefs will surely be in a strong position to defend their title come the post season.
Baby Beefs news
The Baby Beefs have also had a fairly similar turn around to the Beefs captain. After starting off the season with a horrid 3-8-0 record they were left languishing near the bottom of the conference, however a 6-3-1 record since then has seen them pull up to contention of a playoff spot as they sit only 2 pts back of the top 4. The problem however is all of the teams above them have games in hand so there is still a lot of work to be done.
Young defender Andrej Sekera is having yet another stunning season scoring 26 points (13G, 13A) in just 21 games which sits 3rd best in the entire league. Blake Comeau has also put up some good numbers for the Beefs but they need to get scoring from a few more sources as Sekera's 13 goals are almost double anyone else on the team.
