Buffon held his usual press briefing after the second successive loss to the Fairytale Buttercups.

The Victory remain rooted to the bottom of the division with a 2-6-2 record.

“Where do I start? I asked for a more than point a game and the guys serve up a 2-2-1 record. The buds of recovery were evident with the double hammering of the Ducks. But that was a false dawn as we have now crashed to three successive defeats.”

The Victory have often failed to find the twine but Buffon tried to remain optimistic.

“6 of our 8 losses have been by the odd goal and another was by one and an empty-netter. That shows we are still competitive regardless of what our record says. But we may have to look to the Pirates [the Victory’s minor league affiliate] to find the raw desire to overturn these little deficits.”

Insiders reckoned that some of the pro team stars might be on the chopping block as Buffon begins to lose his patience with the avalanche of slender defeats.

Victory Banners

1. Dennis Seidenberg- continues to rack up points, hits and blocks.

2. Rob Scuderi- has come alive with a couple of goals [3] and leads the team on +3.

3. Mike Modano- has been putting up important points and one the few bottom 6 forwards to take care of his defensive side of the game.

Buffon’s continued threats of floggings and plank walkings were carried out today.

In times of crises the blackbearded GM sent Erik Johnson, Tim Connolly and Bobby Ryan to Portsmouth to loot some gold for his new lavish director’s box. Paul Gaustard and Scott Hartnell have been consigned to scrubbing the deck.

Messers Jack Johnson, Brett Connolly, Enver Lisen, Frans Nielson and Rick Rypien were called up to the Captains office to be given their orders in an attempt to get the cannons firing.

The whole team were taken on a bonding trip to the crocodile park. Mark Pysk has not been since.
